|
|
I have just got a new go 630 and want to clear out my old TOMTOM One V3 to sell on.
So I have a couple of questions
1. How do I clear out all my favourites ( could they be transferred to my go 630 )
2. How do I reset my Home to be blank
Thanks

Delete the file mapsettings.cfg in your map folder. _________________ Drivelux |

2. How do I reset my Home to be blank | Locate the MapSettings.cfg File, in the Current Map Folder, and delete it. Use Windows Explorer.
The Favourites are in the MapSettings.cfg File and this can't usually be transferred to a different Map. However there is a way to Edit the File to extract the locations, to create a POI File which can be used on any Unit. The instructions can be found Here. _________________ Richard

Thanks for that. I'll go in and remove it from each map I have.
Will that reset the HOME location as well ?

Yes. It will be "greyed out" and need to be set-up by the new owner. _________________ Richard

You might also want to check the contents of the ttgo.bif file which is in the root of the device, right click it and select Open/ with NotePad some information gets saved in there as well IIRC - Mike |

I think it only contains some personal info if you've used a phone to connect directly to TT servers. The rest is Device data. _________________ Richard

ttgo.bif also seems to hold your email address and home location....
Is there no factory reset on these units? |

On my TT ONE there is a file called
tthome.bif
that also contains your email address if present on the root directory of your device. |

If a unit is to be 'sold on', is it OK to delete the two files ttgo.bif and tthome.bif, or should they be left in place, and just edited to remove any personal information?
Thanks. |

I never had to delete those files.
All I removed was the pocketgps files and the mapsettings.cfg files in the map folders. |

No, I've got a unit which has never been paired to a phone, and ttgo.bif still contains my home location and the email address it has registered for Home

I don't have that on SOME of my devices and backups, it seems to be fairly new. |
