indeed it's a nice idea, but the reality is there are 4 of us generally working 7-11 hour days 7 days a week... we're busy enough as it is to start adding even more admin to the whole thing.
as it is, the lifetime offer works well and has done for the last 3 years.

I think the reality is that the free lifetime membership is perceived as either an entitlement, or a lucky bonus, no halfway house. I don't believe we shall ever persuade otherwise those who see an entitlement.
mediaguycouk does have a point and personally I'd alter that page to read simply "The chance to win a free lifetime membership".
Not that I'd make much of a fuss about whether it's clear - all the other databases are "buy it or leave it, please yerselves!" As far as I'm aware, nobody else is anywhere near as open with information about their database - which other DB supplier publishes the information on how it's compiled and verified, how many and what types of cameras are included? All the other databases are one year subscription, so we're all on an equal footing, the differences being the cost, the quality of the data and for ours, licence to use the database on up to three devices in the same household AND the chance to get lucky with the free membership.

I didn't notice any suggestion of skullduggery in technik's opening post. Only a suggestion the the rules seem unfair. |
I think maybe the accusations comment was based on posts in other threads complaining about not getting a free lifetime membership or discount, which at the end of the day that's all this is.
At least one a week pops up in some form or another
Maybe a sticky thread , COMPLAIN ABOUT NOT GETTING A FREE LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP HERE at least they would all be in one place then |

The offer is simple. No other database provider provides this incentive, degree of accuracy, value for money or support. The accuracy of the database should be reward enough for people to submit cameras not free subscriptions.
Surely the above quote is all that REALLY matters for the good of ALL. If anyone is in any doubt then look at how much the TT cameras cost and how little you get for your money. I consider myself lucky and honoured to hold the title of Lifer and also continue to contribute both cameras and poi for all to benefit from. This is a community after all and shouldn't be looked upon as a means to grab as much as possible without contributing much to that community. Just my humble two penneth worth. _________________ Adam |

agree with the general concensus but personaly i've submitted a few and the one the dude was still painting the lines on the road so someone would have been hard pushed to beat me to it. at least have the decency to reply to the people who submit and say thanks but weve already got it . overall good database . |

on average there are 60-90 submissions a day. this is hard enough to keep on top of as it is without having to email each and every one of those people who submit!
as a role reversal, can submitters at least have the decency to trust us to award the lifetime subs to the correct people - ie those who were first?

Looks like the dude painting the lines may have beat you to it

You do get a reply confirming your submission....
At the end of the day every submission helps the integrity of the database as long as they are accurate, and if you are first you will be rewarded so you will know you were the first if/when your name is in the newsletter in lights |

As an option why not use a autoresponder from the submit button. quite easy .

I can't explain why you haven't, but just to say I *always* get one. |

I got two yesterday within minutes of hitting the submit button for both my submissions for "Seen again" mobiles (I think the delay was only because my email only downloads at five minute intervals). The only explanation for you not getting an auto-response is if your email filters it out as spam. _________________ Dennis

I just submitted a seen again and got this response as soon as I hit the submit button via e-mail.
Quote: | PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL - THIS IS AN AUTOMATED RESPONSE Hi rockin_plumber, Many thanks for your submission, it is very much appreciated. As a direct result of such contributions the speed camera database will continue to be widely regarded as the best available. For your information, the details of the camera(s) you have submitted are shown below: Single Direction Mobile (ID#16237), Heading: 145, Lat:51.02703, Lon:-1.71161 (United Kingdom), Speed:60, |
So maybe you should check your spam filter to see if it is getting re-directed there
And also check your email address on record is the one you still use |
