Its probably the receiver thats U/S but you never know for sure. an you not find someone else with a TomTom in the local area (even Halfords) and see if their units work on your device - Mike

I found a neighbour with a TomTom but he went on a 2 week holiday the same day. Will have to wait until he comes back.

I went on a journey from North Devon to Somerset to-day and about 20 miles into the journey the TMC locked onto a station (first time ever) and started giving me traffic information. It continued to do this for the rest of my journey. Making the return journey this afternoon it did not lock onto a station once, what is happening? Why lock onto a signal in the morning but not the afternoon. Has anybody else had this?

What car are you using this in? and do you know if it has an Athermic windscreen, these are the heat reflective screens some vehicles are fitted with. The reason I ask is these kill the FM signal preventing the RDS device from picking up a signal.
As you got a signal in one direction but not the other it could have been the screen shielding the receiver when going towards the transmitter but when travelling away from it the signal would get in through the side windows and rear screen - Mike

Mike, I have a 2008 Honda Civic and I am sure it does not have a Athermic windscreen.

RDS-TMC worked everytime for me on 8.302, intermittent on 8.350 and not at all on 8.351. It does occasionally say Connecting but then very quickly says unavailable.

I will be reverting back to 8.302 when I get chance.

Weird, I have no problems at all with RDS-TMC since 8.010

Except that every now and then it doesn't detect that the USB receiver is plugged in - a power cycle usually cures it.

Seems I'm a victim of timing as reverting back to 8.302 still left me with intermittent rds connection... Time for TomTom support to make me jump through some hoops...
