well its fixed 2 problems for me. I no longer get 15 second screen redraws with TMC connected and I can now connect my phone again - although BT still seems a little shaky.

Spoke too soon. Screen redraw back today and even worse - redrawing roads every 15 sec as well as other screen info!

BT still working but flakey

or a Garmin Laughing Out Loud

Sorry, that didn't help did it.

I haven't experienced the screen redraw issue, I am still having handsfree and repeated/cut off words issues though with Kate 6.93. Not had chance to try with Kate 7.10 yet.

Ive now fully tested it,I would say the computer voice is working ok,But i can hardly hear kate,But ive found a new problem ok its not major but its still a problem,I keep mine fully charged so i was shocked to see my battery level right down,It even turned off when i didn't have it plugged in the car cigarette lighter, I thought please dont say there is something wrong,But before i started to panic i rolled back to 8302 and my battery lever is showing fully charged.

EDIT:

Even when it was in the cigarette lighter the battery level never moved.

EXACTLY! Same that happened to me with 8.350, I thought it was just my impression because no-one else complained...!

I got 3 problems with 8.350:

- battery lasting only about 45 minutes
- lower volume
- map redraw every 15 seconds or so.

Seems by what I read here that all those problems remain in 8.351 so I'll happily continue with 8.302 to which I rolled back and which gives me no problems at all!

I think if you put 8,350 on the device the battery charge state will be the same as when using 8,302 - it would appear something "new" is going on with the battery and 8,531 - just a guess but something has changed and not for the better - Mike

Used 8.351 today on my 520 with TMC plugged in, on journey to/from work.

Volume has returned back to pre-8.350 levels and was once again usable (using Kate computer voice 693 ).

Have the screen blank/refresh issue every 10-15 seconds using TMC.

This appears to happen around 'busy' areas on the map, e.g. major roundabout / junction. Part of my journey is on a rural road, e.g. single straight road with no junctions and no map refresh issues seemed to occur whilst driving on this stretch.

the issue is still there with regards to the GPRS disconnecting when trying to accessing Weather or any other GPRS service so they haven't fixed that yet.

I don't have, or never have had any GPRS issues, and I would suggest it's probably your service provider.

That probably explains what happened to me. Driving around Norfolk last night I had no refresh issues but today on more major roads it was bad. Looks like the CPU can't cope with some bloated (and broken!) code.

Well, I've had this 730 since November and it was with 8.350 that I noticed a shockingly low battery life all of the sudden... Reverted to 8.302 and it went back to normal.

Can anyone please advise how to roll back from v8.351 to v8.302?

Cheers,

Mark

Does this mean you haven't got a Windows Explorer backup of your device? If so, as soon as you get a link and instructions from somebody and do roll back, go to the FAQs and read and implement number one immediately and regularly thereafter.

Yup, many Explorer backups. But what I don't know in this regard is how to actual roll back the device OS.

Cheers,

Mark

So you have backups of previous installations - the one before 8.351 was 8.350 and before that was 8.302. I really can't remember dates, but my 8.350 was perhaps on 18th May, so my previous backup, 6th May, would be 8.302.

Might be an idea in future to get an SD card and use that for initial updates, leaving existing system on internal - so that you can stop, pull the SD card and revert to booting and running from internal. I still have 8.302 on internal, had 8.350 on SDHC card, but overwrote that with download of 8.351, so I've now got 8.302 on internal and 8.351 on SDHC card.

Just copy the loose files in the root of your backup to the root of the unit, overwriting what is there. Don't copy any of the folders or their contents.
