Home has just offered me this. Any idea what the advantages are of upgrading? I have upgraded to this (after backing up) and it does not appear to have fixed the volume issue. I may be wrong as it will need a good road test first. _________________ -------------------------

Excellent. I didn't have a problem with 8.350 until i noticed it was taking 2+ minute to pick up signal - 8.310 took <2 seconds..
Looks like i'll be testing this on an SD Card as soon as a link appears...
Edit: Hmmm only offering 8.350 at the minute...
Edit 2: Version numbers messed up...

Someone else has mentioned it on the 830 thread that it out for the x20s. Might take time to update all the accounts or something... |

Was just offered 8.351 for my 930 and downloaded and installed it, not sure what it has fixed, the issue is still there with regards to the GPRS disconnecting when trying to accessing Weather or any other GPRS service so they haven't fixed that yet.
With regards to the volume issue I have just tested it and found the following; when volume is set on 70% and Link to Noise is Unticked I get a louder voice when testing it than I do when the volume is on 70% and Link to voice is Ticked
Not sure if this is the same as before as my main gripe is the GPRS issue.

A user in an American forum reports he downloaded 8.351 and now CANNOT get any satellite signals. _________________ David |

I have just installed this and it appears to work OK.... Operate My Go now works again, and computer voices seem to be shown once again (and work). They are greyed out, however, in 'Operate my Go'. I was allowed to add Simon, but it does not show up anywhere...
Acquired satellite lock quickly indoors. Have not had it out on the road as yet
Sound levels (with link to noise level unchecked) appear to me to be back to the pre 8.350 levels. _________________ GO 750 Live HD Traffic, Map Europe 930, Navcore 9.510

Has any one that was getting the map flicker with 8.350 tested this to see if the flicker has gone away? |

Not yet, but just to add to this and other related forum posts : I have
Operating System : v8.35
Western & Central Europe : v830.2305
I travelled 260 miles on Friday, and as it was my first "live" trip, I was watching it much more than usual/safe/intended. I used the RDS Traffic, no flicker.
During the weekend, and on the trip home, the flicker became apparent (as reported here and elsewhere), and again, I was using the RDS Traffic. At a service station, I did a soft reset and this seemed to sort the flicker problem out (still WITH the RDS Traffic).
Just for interest.

Updated to 8.351
Satellite lock and volume levels seem the same as with 8.350 which for me were OK anyway. Unlike some, my satellite locking was quick enough and the reduced volume levels were not too low as some have reported.
8.351 does not repair/restore the phonebook function for my Motorola Krazer K1M phone. The phone numbers are fine but the names have been changed to an non-understandable long stream of seemingly random numbers and letters that spell out nothing. Reinstalling the phonebook made no difference with this update.
No noticeable differences with anything else thus far. |

Just loaded the update onto 720, it is only 35Kb in size which is minute.
Sat fix was 1-3 secs as opposed to the 2 mins or so with 8.350.
Also ran a very quick voice test, and had to lower volume from 80% to 70% with Kate.
Fingers crossed. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

No problems to report on my 740.
TomTom have not updated their release notes page, despite what it says in Home, so hard to know what's changed. |

Now being offered 8.351 - anyone got a link to the download so i can install on SD Card to test?
Why is it reporting it is only 35 Kb? Suspect that should be 35 Mb??? |

It didn't take long to download - only seconds.
The mapshare update took longer, and thats set to only accept TT.
On the downside, keeps asking to update every time I connect to Home now, and then tells me there is none, and of course 'Operate my Go' is now broke, which it wasn't with 8.350.
Will see how it goes and may hop back to 8.350. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

I noticed the small size file but the download time was longer than such a file size would need... not terribly long but longer than the time it takes to download a set of gps quickfix and mapshare update files. Once it started updating on the unit you can see on the home screen the files being installed and they seemed to be a full set of navcore files. So I think that the 35kb file was an instruction to initialize the full download and update the navicore OS. Perhaps someone with more detailed knowledge could explain the situation here.
