|
|
We've decided to NOT spring for the extra rental car gps fee while in Austria/Italy.
I've got my hopefully trusty 920 with European maps (I have not really upgraded the maps or firmware). It has worked to my satisfaction for US and US-Canada. But I would not mind testing it out in advance on some European routing.
I would like to plug in Munich (landing) to, say Seefeld, Austria or Altenmarkt im Pongau (austria). Thence to Arabba, Italy and see what types of routes it proposes.
I am not as familiar with "supposition" routing from my airchair as I would like. Hints, or tutorials or..... that might help me do this in advance of the trip?
Thanks in advance |

Not sure about the older models but i have an option to "Prepare Route" when i tap the screen. I think it on the 2nd screen after you tap it.
You can then select a start location and an end location. You can even run a demo of the route too...
I'd imagine you can do the same with the x20s... |

You certainly can!
Use Change Preferences/Manage maps/Switch map to change to the Europe map, then use 'Prepare Route' (page 2 of the main menu) to select start and end positions by any of the normal methods address/Point on map/postcode/LatLong/etc.
Once it has calculated the route and is showing you the route summary screen, tap 'Options' and you can browse it on the map, run an animated demo, see it as text or images etc. |

Thanks. I had completely forgotten the PrepareRoute concept. And actually forgot it while trying it the second and third times. Each time I picked NAVIGATION and I was sitting at home and the gps was dumbfounded while I was dumb!
(mumbles to self prepareroute, prepareroute......)
Now to see if I can find SPAR Markets POI's and I will be set (or more set). |
