Thanks for testing JaTe, same for me, reverted to 8.302. Haven't tested yet after that but hopefully it will all have gone back to normal stable functioning! I'll check out NEXT update when it comes out, 8.350 is obviously a lemon. Will keep 8.302 at hand even then though, just to be safe!

I had my TMC attached last Thursday, and got no flickering (with power). I don't tend to my 920T without power, but might give it a go this week. _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T |

As mentioned previously, I had the map flicker with 8.350 last week and over the weekend.
Today, both on my way in to work and home at lunchtime, no flicker was apparent whatsoever. The RDS signal was picked up quickly and remained stable throughout.
As a test, on my way back to work after lunch, I had Tripmaster and the little Height application running in the background and was playing an mp3 album through the Line Out cable to the car stereo and again, no flicker on the map at all.
AllI can think is that possible weather conditions can affect the RDS signal and the processor is used quite heavilly when the system tries to regain the signal and process the inorformation.
I'll keep monitoring. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

Got this from TT support today, for a 520 with inaudible volume since 8.350
Quote: | Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Care
I can appreciate your frustration. However, as the decision to reduce the volume was done so based on customer feedback, there is no expected alteration to this as of yet. I have, however, passed on your feedback to our developers.
Please note that if you wish to exchange or return the unit, this must be done at your point of sale.

Trouble is it's outside of 12 months so Currys will hardly take it back now! |

After running with 8.350 for two weeks (approx 3000 miles), I've also traced the screen flickering to the RDS-TMC receiver being connected.
I've tried a full reinstall from scratch including clearing the ROM using TomTom software but nothing fixes it except for disconnecting the RDS-TMC receiver.
Disconnect the RDS-TMC receiver and the screen flickering goes away.
Off to send a technical request to TomTom now that they have knackered another unit with dodgy software.
TomTom changed my 910 for a 920 FOC after the software caused various issues when using the RDS-TMC receiver back then.
Do TomTom actually carry out any testing on new software before it's released, or do they stick it out in the open and wait for the users to do the beta testing for them. What a bunch of muppets!!! _________________ iPhone 5, iOS 6.01 TomTom with speed cameras |

Colin, Which RDS-TMC device are you using? is it fitted with a Mini USB plug or the slightly older round plug type - Mike |

I have given up on 8.350 and reverted to 8.302.
Yet again TT released an update that does not work.
Forget the one in a thousand crap from tomtom. Just like the stuttering voice bug the screen refresh bug can not have been fully tested.
TT's head of testing/quality has been with too many UK MP's, and cant believe what they are doing is wrong!!!! |

Mike, it's the older round type plug. The RDS-TMC receiver is the newer version of the round pin type which TomTom swapped about 12 months ago. _________________ iPhone 5, iOS 6.01 TomTom with speed cameras |

TomTom say they reduced the volume after complaints from "some" users about high volume distortion. But I wonder how many of us are now complaining about lack of volume - surely it is far more than the distortion complaints - after all, some people would have had the sense to turn the volume down? Not ALL TT users are numpties. _________________ Dennis

And then subscribe to map update services so that they have to use the latest Navcore so that the maps work and get all of the lovely bugs that go with it. |
