I recently purchased a 730 GO which updated itself once plugged into the PC at home. On the first day out in the Southampton Area 4 out of 7 cameras passed were missed by the software. I complained to TT and they suggested reflashing the unit, re-installing the speed cam database etc etc. On return to Halfords I tested the in store units a One and a 530 both of them had a full database with all the cams. I complained again but was told the ones in the store were out of date so why were they deleted when the cameras have not changed in over 15 months ?.
As I took out a subscription for a year I feel cheated by the inaccuracies and wondered whether my experience is unique or have others spotted long standing cams go missing. |

You seem to be yet another case of someone who doesn't know,so you go wrong. There are thousands of subscribers to PGPSW site who do know that the pgpsw camera database is superior to the TomTom one, by a heck of a lot.
I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about it, unless you decide to subscribe to pgpsw (current special offer £16.99 for a year) and abandon the TT cameras and subscription as a lesson to be remembered.
Welcome to the website, by the way. It's such a pity you didn't come here before you bought your GO730 - but don't feel bad about it - loads of people suffer the same way.
Have a look at some of our useful information - FAQs about the TomTom devices - most information is pretty common to any device, with a few small differences. If you don't already know, it is imperative to back up your device and do it using Windows Explorer, not TomTom Home. _________________ Dennis

I bought the same device in December and my experience of driving in and around London is that it would miss roughly 1 or 2 cameras per 45 minute journey. I haven't seen PGPSWs database miss one yet...
Why did you take up a subscription with TomTom? UK cameras are free anyway (for a year at least), only thing you get with the paid subscription is foreign cameras on top... |

Not from TomTom in the UK they're not....
Unless they've messed up your account, it's no subscription, no camera uppdates (for anywhere) |

I think you're right:
When using TomTom Home for the first time (last month) it prompted me to download the UK camera positions, which I did. There was an option for taking up a subscription for £19 or something like that, which I didn't do.
I don't get updates on it I think, so I guess it just updated the database to the point where it was when I bought it and that's it... But I will delete the file from the device and my TomTom computer folder to see what happens when I try to download it again... |
