Hi All
Firstly thanks in advance for your help.
I have searched the site first but cant come accross an answer that helps.

I subscribed and downloaded the speed cam database to my PC, then extracted the files to my new TomTom 720 (into the maps folder, the westen europe map is also in this folder). I can see all the database files are in the map folder using windows explorer.
However when I then disconnect the tomtom from pc and went to Change preferences/manage POIs the only 2 icons that arent greyed out are "warn when near POI and Add POI category" when I select "warn when near" the Speed cameras are not on the list that comes up.

What /where am I going wrong.

Hi roytownfan
You don’t mention if your camera database is the one from Tomtom or the one from here, GPS World. However, we will suppose you are using the GPS World.
When you look at your device (using windows explorer) you will see a load of folders one of which is named ‘Western_and_Central_Europe’. It is to this folder that you must extract your camera files. You will see other files in this folder, cline.dat, cname.dat, cnode.dat etc.

When you finally disconnect go to Change preferences/Show POI on Map and place a tick in each camera box. Click done.
Then go to Change preferences/Manage POIs/Warn when near POI. You should find the cameras listed. They will be the last ones in the list.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi roytownfan
I forgot to mention that if you go to the ‘Sticky’ at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=18701 you will get all the information that you need.

Hi thanks for the reply, but still stuck.

Yes the database is the GPS world one.

In the "Show POI" option the cameras do not appear in the list so I cant enable them.

I can see the files are in the map folder using windows, so I know they are there, just dont know how to enable them.

Sorry if this all seems a bit stupid, but now I have bought these I would like to use them.

Looked at the link, this does not seem to help either.

Thanks roy

What files can you see in the map folder?

Hi roytownfan
Hell, roytownfan I’m afraid you have me stumped . However, I’m sure that someone will come to your rescue, they always do.

By the way, before you bang your head against the nearest wall try a reset by sticking a pin/paper clip into the reset hole. You will be surprised what this small act can sometimes achieve.

In addition to the above what map is loaded as active on the unit? tap the sat strength meter (lower right corner of the screen) then the version box, the resultant screen will give you a map name - what is it?

Also try going to Change Preferences/ Manage Maps/ Switch Map and how many maps are listed on the device - it could be you have put the POI files into a map folder that isn't currently the active map - Mike

Hi
Thanks for your replies, I think I have sorted it (with help from another forum).
I had put the files into the folder named Maps, have now taken them out of here and put them in the folder named Western Europe.
All ok now
Thanks
Roy

Hi roytownfan
Agh! I guessed that you may have put them in the folder named 'Map' and not the folder named ‘Western_and_Central_Europe’. Never mind, lets hope you now have it sussed.
