|
|
The format of my Favourites keeps changing.
Initially you type a name for your Favourite and this is displayed on the nav.
However after a few uses of the 940 the Favourite name is disappearing for all my entries, instead leaving behind the physical address of where my Favourite is.
EG:
I store a Favourite as "Bananaman". The associated address with this is 22 Acacia Avenue.
For a short period the favourite is correctly reported as "Bananaman".
However it then changes to "22 Acacia Avenue". The "Bananaman" is gone!!
Any takers?? _________________ TT GO 1005 |

My favourites have not changed at all on my 940 but they were all entered as points on the map rather than addresses. I usually enter them this way as the numbers for addresses are often a few houses out. |

Not seen that myself, but it's a good bug!
Is it repeatable?
Can you think of anything you might do that prompts it to happen (e.g. connecting to Home?) |

Would you think using the MapSettings.cfg file copied across from my previous 930T would cause any problems?? _________________ TT GO 1005 |

I have experienced this same problem twice on my G940.
However I have also been having problems with Fuel Prices and the last advice I got from TT was to:-
[a] Make a backup of my system.
[b] Use TTHome to remove the Application.
[c] Delete the Files (but NOT the Folders) from the Root directory.
[d] Use TTHome to reinstall the Application.
This I did and then copied back my MapSetting.cfg to restore my Favourites.
.
Since then the problem has not re-occurred
.
Of course that doesn't mean it won't if it is indeed a bug!!!

Is point [b] removing the TomTom Application from the unit itself? _________________ TT GO 1005 |

You have the option to remove items from the Device or the Computer. Use the Device Tab. _________________ Richard

YES!
Copying the MapSettings.cfg file across from older software versions always used to work, but has caused enough problems on recent versions (or especially on a change of machine) for me to decide I will NOT do this ever again.
Yes it's a bit of a bore setting up things as you like them again, but I'm firmly convinced that more and more odd behaviour is being caused by people continuing to use this "short cut". |

If you have a day one back up from prior to you adding your Home Location to the device the chances are you won't have a MapSettings.cfg file in the backup.
Just remove the MapSettings.cfg file from the the map folder then switch on the device, it will create a new (empty) MapSettings.cfg file - Mike |

Thanks for the reminder but I renamed my original CFG file to 'MapSettings940.cfg' before I pasted over my 930s CFG file and left it on the device just in case I needed to switch back to it. _________________ TT GO 1005 |
