My TMC continues to fail after a TomTom upgrade (that's an oxymoron if ever there was one) so I decided to use the GPRS system. Big mistake. I see from many forums on the web that there is a problem with Tom Tom and the GPRS settings on many different types of phone. Hundreds seem to be able to pair their devices by Bluetooth (like me!) but, you can only get to 65% pairing with the GPRS settings before it all goes South!
After spending several hours on the phone on hold waiting to talk to Vodafone's Pioneer team last Friday and today I am no wiser. Last Friday I was e-mailed the "correct settings" by the Pioneer team but they were for WAP and Tom Tom tell me that is no good. I can access the TomTom website from my phone using GPRS. Over to Tom Tom but the thread has been going to and fro for a week now and I am no nearer to a solution (less hair though!) Trouble is that both companies blame each other like small children and will not talk to one another to resolve what is obviously a universal problem: Vodafone (arguably) the largest mobile phone company in the world and Tom Tom the most popular (arguably) car GPS system in the world and they seem unable to or won't help.
Sorry to bang on but has anybody any idea as to what manual settings will work? Vodafone (UK) Live Contract/Nokia E65/TomTom 520T. Thanks guys. _________________ Mike -

The only thing I would say is just keep trying with the default settings. I have a E70 and in the previous release there was no option for it. Keep trying and alternating between E50 and E61 and it would eventually work after a few tries.
However if the unit hasnt been reset since the last navigation but switched off (i.e by connecting to the pc) it will almost certenly crash and reboot shortly after planning a new route and getting the 1st traffic. After it has rebooted it reconnects and works fine for the rest of the journey.
Havent tried the new E70 settings yet. When I upgraded I kept trying the E50, E61 and E70 settings about a total of 10 times and then it eventually worked.
Oh and sometimes when you turn it on initially and connects to the phone it fails to get the first traffic update. Telling it to download updates again gets it working (and then crashes ofc) and then is fine for the rest of the journey. |

Thanks Guys. I am fairly savvy with connections having used tomtom versions 3/5/6/Pocket Loox/bluetooth gps and I got connected straight away with that combo and accessed My Traffic etc OK. I can connect to the internet with the phone alone, can use the phone hands free with the TomTom 520 using bluetooth but getting the two to converse and connect to My Traffic is proving really exasperating. _________________ Mike -
