Hi All,
I have been a subscribing member for a couple of years now. About 18 months ago I reported 3 new mobile cameras on the Isle of Wight. One of these has now disappeared from the latest database (presumeably because it hasn't been verified) however, MOBILE:25184@30 and 45586@30 have both been confirmed since my initial report.
I have received no recognition for these reports and am enquiring if these, in fact, qualify for lifetime membership.
As I have just re-subscribed this is only a tongue-in-cheek enquiry
Keep up the good work and many thanks,
Ken Peck

Quote: | Q. I've submitted a brand new camera, but I haven't received my free membership. Why?
A. We get 1000s of submissions every month and it is not unusual for new cameras to be submitted by several different people.
The verification process can take about a month, but is often sooner.
You will receive a separate Free Lifetime Membership email if you have submitted a camera that is consequently verified by us and you were the first to submit it. If you don't receive a email, please check http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Your_Account every now and then to see if we have extended your subscription. If we haven't, then your submission wasn't successful. |
You have no way of knowing if you were the first, as only your own submissions show up on the map.
There are many, many posts like yours and the admin repeatedly say they cannot investigate each one. It takes so long to do, they would never get the actual updates done.
If you get the email with the life offer, then you were the first.

@kenonly.
It would be a good anti spam move if you removed your email address from your post above. Spammers will love you. |

We do clearly state we cannot comment on individual submissions but I took pity on you. At least one of your submissions was the first and is now awaiting further independent sightings having been verified. Once they are received and approved you'll get the lifetime award.
Now stop pestering _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren (AKA Softie )
I understand, thanks. The only reason for the querry was the submissions were made about 18 months ago. Sorry for my impatience
I'd also forgotten you have to put your clock back 20 years when coming to the Island from the mainland (North Island )
To M8TJT, thanks for the spam reminder. Slip of the finger as thought I was amongst friends!!
Toodeloo...

I lived in Cowes for just over 15 years working in the big place on the right hand side of the Newport road. You're right about 20 years, and the Island roads are certainly different!!
Edit
You are amongst friends, but there are things known a web spiders which crawl all over the place looking for email addresses to add to their spaming list |

That's true, we only added mobiles to the criteria in March of this year, see here.
So my earlier comment was incorrect as I hadn't considered the submission date (and don't handle the awards personally anyway).
However, as I have made the error, if this does subsequently get further reports I'll extend the ward in your case as a one off. _________________ Darren Griffin |

darren, march 08 was the non-uk cams qualifying for non subscribers. mobiles have been 'qualifying' since july 07 (hence the note on the submission page: *Please note that submissions prior to 10th July 2007 were subject to different criteria - details of which can be provided upon request. )
25184 was submitted prior to mobiles qualifying, 45586 (submitted jan 08) DOES qualify (once further reports have been seen)

Two rule changes in two years! It's not so much a quango as a home for people with memory problems!
In our defence we all have a multitude of tasks and responsibilities o surely we can be excused the odd oversight? _________________ Darren Griffin |
