|
|
I'm running tomtom Navigator 7.450 on a PNA, all works fine but I can't get the darn menus customized.
I have hunted & tried everything I could find related to it.
I have my SDKRegistry in my tomtom folder, I have tried changing the case of the folder to all lower, all upper etc.
I have the tomtom.mnu file within the folder, I have used TomTom Menu Builder software available to create the .mnu. I have checked the file does not have an invisible.txt at the end?
I have copied other examples of menu formatting straight into the .mnu file via notepad.
Nothing, every time I boot Tomtom I am greeted with the same old menu?
Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Appreciate any help :D |

Yes
Believe me I have researched on this subject been on loads of forums, various people have claimed they have it all working with folders called
SdkRegistry or sdkregistry or SDKRegistry
I've tried all variations I can think of? |

Oops, I left off the `99` !
PS, That link works for me, in all versions of navigator ive tried, use and deleted.
Check the CaSe is correct, and double check the speeling.
( and perhaps check your TomTom.mnu file is not corrupted / invalid . ) |

Honest my directory structure & my spelling is all correct
\TomTom\SdkRegistry\TomTom.mnu
This is the stuff within the .mnu file, copied from another post as my original .mnu from the Menu Builder software didn't work.
MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_MAIN|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE1|Main Menu 1 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_MAP|
MENUITEM|TASK_DELETE_ROUTE|
MENUITEM|TASK_NAVIGATE_TO|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_BRIGHTNESS|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PREFERENCES|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE2|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE2|Main Menu 2 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_SET_COLOR_SCHEMES|
MENUITEM|TASK_ADD_FAVORITE|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PLAN_ATOB|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_ROUTE_INSTRUCTIONS|
MENUITEM|TASK_ITINERARY|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE3|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE3|Main Menu 3 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_WEATHER|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_DOWNLOAD|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_TRAFFIC|
MENUITEM|TASK_TUTORIAL|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PHONE|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE1|
I just created a new TomTom.mnu file, I deleted the old one, created a new .txt file, enetered the above code into it, saved as TomTom.mnu & placed back intot he same directory, nothing
Ideas please 'cos its really annoying knowing this is possible but not be able to do it as TomTom don't have their menus laid out the best.
Can anyone confirm they actually have this working on a tomtom Navigator 7.450? |

Affirmative.
Your custom menu is quite small, doesnt look much different from the real thing? unlike mine, now 12 pages recently cut down from 14!
Assuming your using WM5/6, and your case and spelling of the directories are correct, AND the file is called TomTom.mnu then it should work fine.
Can you double check the filename is not TomTom.mnu.mnu ? sometimes the last .mnu gets dropped if its registered on the pc so you dont notice the mistake, check under its properties.
Personally, Long Live Nav6 !

Its not the actual menu I want, its just a sample I have copied & pasted to see if I can get the darn thing too work, once I get this working (if I ever get this working) I can actually do my menu how I want it.

Can you perhaps post what model you are trying to use this version of tomtom 7.45 on, AND if them directories are on a SD card or the actual system.
From your directory tree, i cannot say i recognise it from any system ive ever tried.
If your using a go/x20 model/one etc, you need the tomtom.mnu put here...
\rootdirectory\SdkRegistry\TomTom.mnu
If your using a phone/pda/xda/running windows5/6 you need it here....
\\mydevice\TomTom\SdkRegistry\TomTom.mnu

I'm running Tomtom on a PNA, can't tell you what make or model as there is nothing written on it other than GPS Navigation System. On the back it states Windows CE.
TomTom is loaded on a SD card.
The folder structure is
Root of card
My Documents - DIR
TomTom - DIR
shell.ini
ttnavigator.bif
Then within the TomTom folder as above with all the various folders including the SdkRegistry?
Really strange one isn't it, I can't find anyone who has this problem.
I've checked memory card isn't locked, XP is not hiding any known file types ala file is not TomTom.mnu.txt or any other extension
I tried putting the SdkRegistry into My Documents (the same place maps need to be)
I'm wondering if their is some setting within TomTom itself that might be preventing the tomtom.mnu from loading? |

It sounds like your trying to use the SdkRegistry folder on the SD card, which is incorrect.
You need to put it on the main memory, as so..
"
If your using a phone/pda/xda/running windows5/6 you need it here....
\\mydevice\TomTom\SdkRegistry\TomTom.mnu "
by sounds of it, your doing
\\storagecard\TomTom\SdkRegistry\TomTom.mnu
That should fix your problem.
Good luck! |

Are you sure, I can't actually check that right now as I will need to install MS ActiveSync to do so.
But my device is a PNA device & everything related to tomtom goes on the SD card, so unlike a pocket PC or mobile phone the units base drive isn't touched. Therefore it doesn't actually have a tomtom folder. Of course I could create one & will try later on but have to say this sounds wrong, will post back later. |

Well me Mr mpwilson99, you've only gone & solved my problem you genius you
Yes the darn SdkRegistry\TomTom.mnu had to be on the devices memory not on the SD card, so I installed activesync, created a folder call TomTom on the devices memory & voila, all worked.
Thank you my man, I'm also Sussex based, in Worthing dontcha know so if I ever see you in a pub I shall buy you a pint!!! |
