|

after setting up a new SD card, I now find that when I connect my TT One to my PC, TT Home doesn't start automatically and I have to start it myself.
I think perhaps there is a file on the TT that starts TT Home, and I've deleted it?
If that's the case, whats it called. I can't find anything in my backup that looks a likly suspect. |

Start TomTom Home and go to Tools/ Preferences make sure the "Start TomTom Home automaticaly when my computer starts (recommended)" is ticked - although I would be quite happy with it not starting at all to be honest - Mike |

No, its not that.
I've never had Home start with the PC, I don't have any applications start unless they're needed as I don't like them consuming screen space or system resources.
Anyway, I tried setting it to start with the PC and rebooted. Connected Tomtom, and the icon for TThome sat there waiting to be started manually.
I am sure its on the TT unit as when I last updated navcore, it kept trying to install TTHome on the PC and I deleted a file called "installtomtomhome.exe" or similar to stop it. It hasn't worked since then I don't think. |

Can you do this please?
There should be a text file in the root of your unit called autorun.inf. Can you copy and paste the contents of that file here?
Thanks. |

I had something similar...
When connected for the first time it offered to INSTALL Home.
After that it used to load and run it.
After a while I noticed it had stopped doing it (which suited me fine!) but as it started asking if I wanted to install it again, I was interested to know why...
Looking at the autorun.inf, it has entries for installing and for running the prog:
[autorun]
action=Run TomTom HOME
open=InstallTomTomHOME.exe
label=TomTom Flash (I've tweaked this line myself)
icon=tomtom.ico
[DeviceInstall]
So I've no idea why the "action" line doesn't auto run the prog. any more. |

No number signs (#) in front of the lines, are there? |

Not on any of the lines I posted.
There *is* another line at the end, that does:
#This section is empty; autorun will not install device drivers to your PC.
but I assumed the "#" was just to 'comment out' what followed, yes?
Anyway, I only really posted for info... I'll butt out and let the OP have some space. |

thanks for your replies. here is my autorun.inf
[autorun]
action=Run TomTom HOME
open=InstallTomTomHOME.exe
label=TomTom
icon=tomtom.ico
[DeviceInstall]
#This section is empty; autorun will not install device drivers to your PC.
thats it. complete
as I said, it USED to start Home, but the last NC update caused it to keep trying to install Home, and as it was already installed, I got sick of that and deleted InstallTomTomHome.exe. Now, it can't install another copy of Home, but doesn't run the existing installed app either. |

I've just read another post on here where someone mentioned that it stopped autoloading when Home updated itself to the latest version. Maybe a name changed somewhere in the registry or something?
Bit it's not a disaster is it, so long as you can still run it from the Start menu? |

no its not a disaster, sometimes I dont want to run Home eg, want to explore the memory or just charge the battery, but I'd curious and would like to have control over it. In any case, when i connect the TT, I now get a box asking what I would like to do - play media, open explorer etc, and I can't stop that from opening (the 'always do this' box at the bottom is missing) |
