If it didn't come with it, then i'm afraid no.
TTS is provided by the voice files which are provided by Garmin. Non TTS models can't use the TTS Voice files. |

I didn't think the non-TTS unit had the capability in the firmware to "read" or "use" the TTS voices. |

If, as tsdinos says, it's illegal, then you won't find that information here. |

You can try and google it. There are some websites that have instructions, you will have to manually install them to the internal memory and maybe modify some files. Garmin's policy is not to include TTS voices to these units for commercial reasons obviously, but the hardware is perfectly capable to support them.
You may want to try over the internet to find instructions, but it will be your responsibility to modify the files.
If you decide to do so, remember to always back up the original files! |

If you are referring to the well known streetpilot tts hack I can confirm it doesn't work on the 255w and therefoire I assume the 205. |

Basically.... I want to try something similar. My friend just bought a nuvi 250 that doesn't support TTS and i've checked its folders and in the folder voices it has british_english.sum and british_english.vpm
My nuvi 760T that supports TTS has in the same folder exactly the same files + British_english_daniel.sum and British_english_Daniel.vpm
I was just wondering if i simply copy these TTS files from my nuvi 760T to my friend's 250 is there any possibility it can work?
I wanted to try it now, but he is leaving on a trip tomorrow and I read on some forums that the Unit may crash or behave unexpectedly, so I wouldnt take the risk since he needs it tomorow, but i may try it on a later time |

No - it won't work. The 205 is missing the s/w modules that implement the text to speech algorithms. What you are seeing on the 7xx are the non-TTS voices - don't forget; you don't have to use TTS on these units. The navigation system 'talks' directly to the TTS speech module to implement TTS. _________________ Phil |

I think there is one or two models it's been hacked on (C5XX?) but i don't think it's likely to be possible on newer models not designed to run TTS. |
