I seem to remember when I first connect my TomTom to my PC I could see the Flash Memory and the memory card.. Now only the flash memory !
Should I see both ??
Today I've had major issues with my N95 8GB connected to the 520T via bluetooth.. Calls dropping, crashing the 520 and rebooting.. now getting Unable to save setting errors, file access issues.
Just preformed an update so I'll see if that has helped !!
Any ideas ?
Thanks |

Hmm.. I also have a corrupt GNS Data file..
So it's stopping me backup.
checkdsk seemed to fix it.. but it corrupts instantly..
Upgrade seems to have worked !! apart from the gns issue. |

Yes, Windows Explorer should "see" both the internal memory and the SD card slot (even if the slot empty on a PC - not so on a Mac I'm told).
Are you trying to do your backups with Explorer or Home? |

Stupid question first.... You DO actually have an SD card in the slot, not just the dummy bit of plastic that comes in it from new?
Have you tried all the usual things? Paperclip reset, return to factory settings, clearflash utility, different USB cable and port, connecting while TT switched on, connecting with PC off, Deleting the connection in Device Manager?
All or any of these might force it to find the card.
Can you back up everything individually or in chunks, excluding that one file?
I had a similar problem (one slightly dodgy file), and although I was loathe to try scandisk or anything like that, my PC crashed once when the TT was still attached, by the time the PC had sorted itself out, it had automatically looked at the TT as well! It came up with a "I've repaired a file and deleted one other" message. Since then sweet as a nut! |

Hi
yes there a SD card in there with maps on that TomTom can see.. but my PC can't.
I can copy all the files except gnsdata.
My PC has a multiboot set up, so I'll set up my 520T and Home on a different XP installation and see what happens.
If that doesn't work I'll try clear_flash. Probably Tomorrow or Weekend..
At least it's running OK at the moment apart from the bluetooth issues.
Thanks |

What type of card have got in the device if it is SDHC the TomTom will not be capable of writing to it, I am not too sure if Windows Explorer would even see it, if the capacity is 4GB or higher take a close look at the card for the SDHC logo.
If you need a new file for the gns folder just re-download the update and install it to the device each update contains a revised file for that folder - Mike |

You may want to try the utility 'Move on Boot' as part of the utility group at this link:
http://www.gibinsoft.net/
It may help with the recalcitrant file. |

The 520T seems to work with Vista..
I get 2 new drives.. One Internal & one the memory card.
So that's OK.. I'll sort my XP install later..
Since my GNS Data issue, my TMC hasn't worked.
Went to Gainsborough from Blackpool yesterday.. no TMC at all
Today went to Swynnerton and no TMC.
What's the best /easiest / quickest way to fix this ??
Thanks |
