Quote: | What mystifies me is that the camera entries in the speed zoned data base and single file data base appear identical - yet behave in the Nuvi differently. |
Well I'm having a hard time getting consistant results now. Alerts appear sometimes and not others. I've repeated some of the runs i did above and Alert Bars appeared above when they didn't before and the cameras with @0 or no speed info alert randonly.....
I'll make up a route with a bunch of fake GATSO with various trigger speeds and simulate runs past them to see what happens.
Additional: Done.
Simualted a run along M25 with 4 cameras.
GATSO:12345@50, GATSO:12345@60, GATSO:12345@70 and GATSO:12345@80. 40 and 50 displayed Red Alert Bar, Icon and Audio Double Bong. 70 displayed grey Alert Bar and Audio Double Bong. 80 only displayed icon.
Then i loaded 2 x GATSO:12345@0 and 2 x GATSO:12345. Each Audio Double Bonged once, showed an icon and displayed the grey Alert Bar.
Consistant results and what i expected. So why did it not alert me earlier when i ran along the M42 Variable Cams????
I'm going to formulate some proper tests over the next few days.... |

Right. I don't know what happened earlier but i think i solved the single file problem........ 4 hours of swapping databases and messing about. I walk away for 20 minutes and i work it out in 10 seconds when i get back.....
The reason the Single File Database doesn't work is because the title of the file doesn't have one of the "magic" words in it like GATSO, Redlight, Mobile etc. Just rename the file from pocketgps_uk_sc.csv and pocketgps_uk_sc.bmp to pocketgps_uk_gatso.csv and pocketgps_uk_gatso.bmp (Or pocketgps_uk_redlight or pocketgps_uk_mobile) and the @0 cameras work.........
The Consolidated DB has files such as pocketgps_uk_gatso and pocketgps_uk_mobile. The Speed Zoned has names such as pocketgps_uk_gatso_20 and pocketgps_uk_mobile_40 so they all work....
Oh and BTW. Extensive testing of Consolidated and Speed Zoned shows they are ok. Bongs, Icons and bars on the screen - all ok. |

Yesterday I installed the single file database (OV2) on my Tomtom 720T. This morning I drove down the M42 southbound form junction 7 to junction 3A (M6 to M40 section).
I received only 4 alerts for the entire section. I know there are far more than 4 gantry mounted cameras on that section can anybody explain this? |

If I had a pound for every time this question has popped up......
In short the database contains locations that are known to be camera locations, it does not contain locations of dummy camera boxes - the database is accurate through either North or Southbound - Mike |

If that’s the case I’ll assume it worked perfectly then
Some of those what I now understand to be "dummy boxes" do look very convincing though |
