Hi folks
I've just got my N760 and have a query regarding the SC Database on same.
The Nuvi has, what I assume is, a trial of the Cyclops database.
1: Can I use your database alongside the Cyclops, which would possibly give duplicate warnings.
2: Do you have to remove the Cyclops data, and if so, how?
Sorry if these issues are covered elsewhere cos if they are I can't find them.
Cheers

I've just got mine too.
1. You can but as the Cyclops database isn't as up to date it would be pointless.
2. You can disable them by going to Tools, Settings, Proximity Points, Proximity Alerts, Change... and untick Garmin Safety Cameras. |

Not being a pest at all...
It can be confusing the first time.
Do you mean which of the "single", "consolidated by type" or "speed-zoned" versions?
If so, can I refer you to this topic:
Which type of download should I download? |

Hi Andy
So the "consolidated" shows camera positions but no speeds and the "speed zoned" shows camera positions WITH the speed of the camera, is that correct?
Cheers

Consolidated is best as it'll show an icon on the map that indicates the camera type and position. You'll also get the type and speed in the bar at the top of the screen. |

Yeah as Paul said in that topic I linked to.
This is one of the places where the different brands behave differently.
On a TomTom, it doesn't show the name of a POI when it approaches, only the icon associated with the POI category.
Therefore you need all the speeds in separate categories in order to show the speed limit icon.
On a Nuvi, I think it shows the name of each entry, which includes the speed limit. If that is large enough/obvious enough, you don't need the separate speed categories. |

I'll retract what i said above.
The nuvi with the Consolidated database seems to show the icon at any speed. Older Garmins didn't show POI icons unless you were actively navigating to them. Ones with speed related data such as Safety Cameras would only appear and alert inside set distances and above set speeds.
Now the nuvi appears to do the following:
1) Show the icon reagrdless of speed
2) If you are under the speed limit it shows a grey banner with "Speed Alert 40 mph". If you are over the limit it shows a red banner with "Speed Alert 40 mph". If the camera has no speed info such as a Redlight camera it'll show "Redlight:12345 Alert"
Sigh just as i'd got it all configured and sweet in my i3...... Now to play with Camera Manager and the GPX files.... |
