I bought a TomTom One (EU) last year. It said on the box RDS-TMC compatable (or words to that effect - I think). So when I saw a receiver at a sensible price I bought it. BUT, when I tried to plug it in, there's no socket on the One. I do feel a bit of a muppet, as I always check to avoid this sort of occurance....
Is it possible to upgrade my One to take the RDS-TMC?
One is 4N00.005, and TMC receiver is 4V00.013 |

I think you will find that it said TMC Traffic information but not the RDS part, your TomTom can use traffic information via your mobile phones GPRS connection and a Bluetooth hook up for the phone - this requires a subscription for the service though per year.
The RDS-TMC device that you have is the latest UK spec model, but is about as much use a chocolate teapot, as you have found there is no connection available for you to use it.
Out of the TomTom One product range only the TomTom One Third Edition (and I wouldn't recommend one of these due to other reasons) or the One XL devices can use RDS-TMC and are equipped with the correct connection point.
Welcome to the forum though - Mike |

My TomTom is V3, with the onboard memory for the European maps. Obviously not the same as 3rd edition. I like it a lot, but feel a little dissapointed. It would have been less confusing if they'd called the latest offering Version 4, or 4th edition.
Is there any way I can upgrade my unit?
Thanks for your help. |

The only upgrade path available to you is to purchase a new unit with the required socket and hardware to support it, there is no actual hardware modification you can do to the existing device to get the RDS-TMC to work - Mike |

Hello, I am having the same problem, I have a V3, the one with the SD slot, and I would like to know, if possible, where you connect the rds-tmc in your tomtom, because I have bought an antennae and I don't find the way to connect.
Thank you |

It cannot be done. Your model does not support the RDS-TMC service. _________________ Darren Griffin |
