Cheers, I'll give it a try. I've used this before to 'try' and help with and connection issue. My PC does not recognise my device all the time. It's fine when you first boot up the PC and dock the device. If you switch of the device remove it and try and re-dock it doesn't want to know.
I'm still waiting from and answer from TT on how to get round it. I've tried reverting back to older versions of TT Home. No joy. |

Good Day All,
Just downloaded the lastest Map and application 7.161 for my TTGO700, copied the GPS locations over OK but the voices don't work. I think I need to update the data.chk file, is this true and if so, is there a forecast for an update please? |

You do not want to wait for a modified Data.chk file as that will not appear instead grab a voice file pack in ogg format from Here and follow the instructions on the page I have linked to, the ogg file method is the newer way to achieve spoken warnings - Mike |

Hi Mike,
I did that, it works OK apart from the cow, bugle and cuckoo rubbish still comes on before the speech |

The chances are you have a duplicate set of speed camera POI files on the device, perhaps they are an old set named slightly different.
Remove all the ov2 files that start with pocketgps_uk, then install a single set and configure the warnings, you shouldn't get two sounds then - Mike |

I have a curiousity question - Why would you choose anything other than "only warn if on route"? Why would you want to be warned of something not on your route? |
so that you get camera warnings when driving around with no route set - yeah it confused me too |

Here's what you need to do:
For each of your OV2 files, create a warning sound in OGG format with exactly the same name. So if you have a BP.ov2 file, create a BP.ogg fileand place it in the same map folder. (We recommend 22050 Hz sampling rate but it should not matter)
When you restart TomTom, the new sound will automatically be used. Cool, ah? (you may have to re-set the warning distance for each POI category you changed)
A good source for ogg files is http://tomtomsatnav.info/realvoice.html . But you can of course also use your own creations. |
whoops they have gone now! |

Think I can answer that one. Traffic cops sometimes lie in wait up a slip road or in a lay-by, which isn't technically "on your route." even though its close enough to get you knicked! For this reason it's a good idea to set your mobile camera POIs to warn you even if they aren't en route.... Imagine how funny they would find it if you still got caught despite all the technology!!!
sorry for the double post, screwed it up first time _________________ TT 300 App 7.162, UK + Ireland v710

Folks,
Do not know if you can help.
I am no long able to get the voice ogg files working. I have a ToTom 700 App 7.162 Map Western and Central Europe v710.1561( downloaded this week). Up until about 2 weeks ago the speed voice warnings worked OK. I have downloaded the latest speed cameras from this site and also the ogg files the speed camera BMP show up on map. But when I try to assign a voice files (sound) to a speed BMP they do no show up on menu only the original bleeps etc. Do I need to change the file or do I need to any thing else?

Have you got the ogg files loaded to the new map folder? - if so when you are configuring the Warn When Near POI option the device will offer a screen saying "is this the sound you want to use" - even though it plays no audio simply answer YES and complete the rest of the options, if you answer NO the device will lock up needing a reset - this is a known problem - Mike |
