Here I am at death's door with megga flu. Last week Vera had a cold. Why can't I just get a cold instead of killer flu? _________________ Dennis

Dennis, sorry to hear that you're ill. Best thing to do is to wrap up warm, go for a little "bracing" walk preferably with a dog by your side, go back home and have a drink of your favourite tipple!
The trouble is that some men (though obviously not you ) claim to have flu when in fact they only have a cold. Hence the term Man flu.
Many years ago back when I was at school, we all had to have a compulsory flu jab. Within a couple of hours of having the injection I was sent to the school’s sanatorium with full blown flu. So I know what flu is really like!
I don't know if I already had been exposed to a cold or flu virus or whether the flu jab itself was entirely responsible for me getting the flu. However I have never had another flu jab since then!

The trouble is that Dennis already has killer flu, so a flu jab would be too late. _________________ Andy

On second thoughts, reading poor Dennis' new signature - perhaps he's just been conned into thinking he's so ill
Get well
and hopefully you won't be suffering too much over the weekend _________________ Andy

I had my flu jab on 1st October (OAPs get them free, but they really, really, really hurt) so it goes to prove this is really the megga killer flu which would have killed me if I hadn't already had the really, really, really painful flu jab. _________________ Dennis

I had the flu jab too, DennisN, and you're right - they hurt like hell!
I was lucky that this year I didn't suffer any ill effects from it (apart from an aching arm for a few days) as in previous years when I've developed flu-like symptoms within a day of having it which have laid me low for about a week afterwards!
I myself am just getting over a nasty chest infection which required antibiotics but which still has not completely gone.
Hope you feel better soon.
Regards,
Bo Peep. _________________ TomTom 730

And one of the worst bits about the flu jab is that kids get sweets for having it and grandads don't. I was slightly tempted to mug a couple of kids for their sweets, but they all shoved 'em straight in their greedy little mouths! _________________ Dennis

I didn't know they gave sweets out!!
I get it free every year as well, which is good. Perhaps I should have bent down a bit as I walked in and I might have got a sweet/balloon/sticker. It might have worked had they not known my real age - I can still get half fare on the buses if I put my hair in a ponytail and don't wear make-up!

Seriously, I always make a fuss about the sweets if there are children in there. They are often at least nervous and the latest one was scared to death, so me shouting off and making a song and dance about just kids getting sweets made him quite forget what was going on!! He put quite a lot of effort into explaining why he got sweets and I didn't. You're not allowed in the same cubicle of course, so I had to shout through the curtains and he shouted back. But he didn't notice the jab (and neither did I). _________________ Dennis

Oh dear, Dennis, are the pensioners revolting??
I think they've stopped giving sweets to kids - I haven't heard of kids getting sweeties from the doctor for ages...I think you should have got an "I've been brave" sticker though
Vera was more than likely suffering from a different bug. Remember that you're travelling the length and bredth of the country and have probably picked up something different from somewhere exotic (Bristol), whilst Vera's bug is possibly from a more local source.
Remember also that you're also suffering from a touch of GO720itis at the moment, so your immune system might well be slightly suppressed _________________ Andy

DennisN, sorry to hear you are ill, sounds to me like you have the GO720 virus.
What are you doing with all these TomTom's - now seven, are you a beta tester?
Are you sure the latest is working correctly, my first Garmin still works fine. _________________ TomTom Go 60

Hah, so it's the GO720 #6 and #7 strain of flu. Wouldn't you just believe I get two strains at once!
What am I doing with them?
Well, first of all I'm testing them to see if they work OK enough for me to keep them - the first 5 didn't, but I have high hopes for these two.
Second, I'm trying to get a free Latest Map Guarantee upgrade for them. With a marked lack of success - when I spoke to TT on the phone they said "There isn't a new map" and when I submitted Support questions, they told me to update the FW, the SW and then do it - it doesn't. You know what gets me? That girlie Anita who won a GO720 in last month's competition got one that worked AND got the Latest Map Guarantee free map download AND hasn't got even a sniffle of a cold!!
So I'll sit and quietly cough until tonight, when I'll cough loudly all night and keep Vera awake for yet another night. (Yes indeed she had a different bug - that was Girl Flu, which is just a plain mild cold).
Sympathetic utterances are in order. _________________ Dennis

Being a bad sport again, just like when you didn't win the logo competition?
Typical white van man - somebody nicks your parking spot and you moan for eternity
Anita did say, though, that she doesn't use the bluetooth much - so she could possibly have a faulty unit without knowing...but when you get something for free it doesn't hurt as much

Look on the bright side - this gives you more time to play with your new 17" MacBook _________________ Andy
