Hi Guys,
I'm a new member here but not new to navigation or TMC traffic info.
Very interesting to read all your comments on the two TMC systems.
Have been using ITIS for the past 3 years (throughout which it has improved) with my integrated Siemens navigation. To be honest I can't knock it, I can't recall a time when I either haven't received or received a warning too late for me to avoid the problem. In fact I recall returning home from Liverpool (non motorway) a couple of years ago and I ignored a 'road closed' warning becauyse I didn't beleive it. I was wrong!.
I've recently had a company car so I purchased a Nuvi 660FM (with what I thouight was ITIS TMC. Again I was wrong, it uses Trafficmaster TMC.
Now we're talking something very different. Reception coverage in the midlands is c**p. It only seems to lock on when I'm in the north or northeast and I have'nt yet received a warning with enough notice to avoid the problem. So I'm really dissapointed.
I plan to try to improve reception by coupling the aerial wire into my vehicle aerial (mk5 Golf). If that doesn't work I'll just keep getting stuck in traffic jams or throw out the nuvi and replace it with a model that uses ITIS.
cheers guys.

Problems with TMC reception seem to plague all portable units, although things are starting to improve... _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

This is probably more to do with the Garmin than it is Trafficmaster.
The GTM21 is acknowledged by most who have used it as being pants.
I had one and the reception was terrible. I then got a Magellan (also TrafficMaster) and the reception was great. |

I have used a AA Navigator (borrowed from a friend) with a traffic receiver (don't know the model number) that picked up the ITIS data from Classic, which never seemed to loose coverage.
From a trraffic point of view it worked well, but the navigation was worse than useless. Thankfully the AA have discontinued that model. _________________ merlot
