I have the current version of memory map region 1 and I can install a visible map area from the PC onto my Mio P350 which reads fine. However, when I try to install the whole region onto a 1Gb memory card the map will not open. The memory card is not full. I have uninstalled and reinstalled memory map to no avail
Any suggestions please.

Welcome to the forum, Memory Map on a PPC cannot open full size maps, there simply isn't enough memory and/ or processing power.
What I do is use the "Mobile Device"/ Send visible map portion - this sends to the PPC the map area you have visible on the PC screen, it will tell you the file size prior to uploading the map to the PPC, if you keep the map file size below 300MB you should be OK. It is possible to add a full map this way, just do it in four "tiles" the device can look after which one to display - Mike

Hi,
Unless you have a very high resolution monitor, the "send visible" method rather limits the file size. The "correct" method (with MM v5) is to create a closed route around the area of map you want to transfer, right-click on the route : Operations : Send enclosed map....
There are sample boundary routes here, but I prefer to create the boundaries to suit my own requirements. I agree with Mike that 300MB is the best limit, unless you have a very fast card/PDA combination.
Personally, I always send the map files to a hard drive first (same as setting the path to a card reader) and organise them there, before finally transferring them with Windows Explorer. Note there are three files per map, .QCT (map), .QED (elevation data) and .MMI (placenames index).
