Hi there

I have been struggling with th ecamera software for some days now but to no avail. For some reason my computer/POI loader does not like GPX files and simply locks up when the POI load starts.

Grateful to know how to remove the software - right-clicking does nothing on my installation

Cheers

Common problem with GPX files and the answer is patience.

The GPX files are much larger than the CSV files and need alot more processing. Just leave the PC alone and it'll complete. Mine takes 2-3 minutes to load 33,000 POIs, some may take longer.

It'll appear to have locked but most of the time it hasn't....

Hi, I have been away from this forum for some time. Satnav now built into car but this won't allow me to load POI ie no speed cameras. I got out my I3 to see if I could have this hidden in the car and came back to this wonderful thread. (I was involved at the begining)

I note there is now the possiblity of Voice warnings which would be great if the unit was hidden but it is not clear if this will work on the I3. can anyone clarify.

Thanks in Advance

Can anyone answer my query?

thanks again

Many thanks for the response - I generally load around 58000 POIs including the speed cameras. In the past, the load takes around 6 minutes and the POI loader does not fail to respond. Using the camera manager created files, the POI loader shows "Not Responding" and after 10 minutes nothing has happened - usuallyit fails to even begin the load ie the window does not blank out. I am not nerw to the GPS - just the Camera Manager - I have been loading POIs for 2 years now with no problems atall.

Try fewer POIs to start with an see if it works. You might have to consider disabling your Anti Virus whilst you run the POILOader.

Paul's right on the money - for some reason, POI Loader takes an absolute age to process GPX files - nothing to do with Camera Manager really.

POI Loader becomes so engrossed in this mysterious processing that it doesn't bother to respond to Windows' messages - which is why some versions of the OS will warn that the POI Loader isn't responding.

Later versions of POI Loader seem to have slightly improved the matter, but it still takes quite a few minutes.

the point is that if your loading 58000 POIs normally under Ashs camera manager you are loading 116000(thats if my maths still works) because it creates 2 lines for each speed camera so the time to download at least doubles .

And it has been known before for windows to say a program is not responding when it is still working its just taking more time than the auto "not responding" timeout

Ash

I regularly drive on the M25 and M42 and suffer constant "bonging" due to the Variable Speed Gatsos. I wondered if there was a facility / enhancement to Camera Manager whereby a camera with a speed of "0mph" could have a different setting?? The issue is that at even 10mph (on a good day on the M25) the overspeed warning seems to kick in.

I know some mobiles show as "0mph" in the database where the speed hasn't been reported.

Out of interest, what calculations does Camera Manager make for "0mph" speed cameras?

Voice warnings are not possible on the i3.

thanks for your reply. What a shame. Does this apply to both version ie maps internally or on transflash? Is it to do with the number of POI it can handle?

No i3 can do the voices / custom POI Alerts because the function simply isn't there. MaFt and i tried all sorts of methods when the function was added to POILoader but the i3 just can't do it.

Why should I use it? I know when there is a new camera database release. I just download it and copy over the files.
