|
|
I have just installed the full version of TT Home 2.0 and when I go to Operate My Go it tries to install the update required to use it then crashes with an error xulrunner.exe has encountered a problem and then shuts down.
Anyone else had this error and can it be fixed.

I got this problem last night and even when I reverted back to Home 1.6, it still did it. I eventually tracked it down to the latest Navcore download. I went back to 7.00.8286.gox20 and the problem went away.
Just to prove it, I then installed the 7.01.8290.gox20 upgrade again and the same problem re-occurred. Poor show TT.
Until there's another upgrade on offer, mine is now staying on the previous release.

Thank God, I'm not alone in this. Thought I must have done something to really mess up my 720.
When you say that you reverted back to a previous version of the Nav Core do you mean you went back to 7.000 rather than the recently released 7.010? I'm pretty new to Sat Nav, so I get a little confused!
TIA

I went back to 7.00.8286 . The latest version that came down for me last night was 7.01.8290 - well, that's what the file name is on the download - and it's buggy.
For me, at least, 7.00.8286 works fine and 7.01.8290 crashes the Home software when I try to operate my Go 720.

Now you've got me worried! 7.010 was what Home 2.0 downloaded for me and I installed it. Does this mean that TomTom may think that I'm in America? |

Sorry, my mistake. I reverted back to 7.00.8286 from 7.01.8290 - I've just corrected my previous posts. |

How did you revert back. Did you restore a whole back up? |

After receiving the latest update yesterday for TTH2.0.0.370 and everything went pants thinking it might have been a Vista problem I installed it on an XP machine with the same result: Every time you start TTH2 you have to fill in the EULA then XULRunner fails when you try to use My TomTom. I have phoned TomTom and after talking to their first line support who are not aware an update had even been released let alone it was causing a problem is passing it on to 2nd line technicians on Monday. Looking at the new version only seemed to have added "find cheap petrol POI".
Eddie.

BTW I have tried to use previous versions to get functionallity back but it allways expects, the new version update to be applied first.

No, I found the older downloads for 7.00.8286.x20 in the original Home 1.6 download folder. I then just copied this to the Home 2 download folder, deleted the 7.01.8290.x20 download and reinstalled using home 2. You could do this with home 1.6 as well as the download will appear in the list. _________________ Cheers, John

Managed to restore back to v7.000 from my explorer backup. From the sounds of it if TT themselves aren't aware, then is this a beta firmware they are trying to pass off as a new update. Even the update page on TT hasn't been updated to show what this update is supposed to address!! Thats despite them advising to go to http://www.tomtom.com/6141 to see what the update is for.
Think i'll stick with 7.000 as well until I see a proper changelog on the site. |

I spent over four hours last night getting back to Home 1.6 and GO720 7.000 (8286/070629). I kept trying the various combinations, but that's the only one that didn't crash.
I received my 720 at 8:30am on 2nd August and after unpacking and reading the paperwork (to find out how useless the paperwork was), had my first (Win Explorer) backup timed at 8:48am.
Isn't it sickening that we are Beta testing this lot. There have been at least 4 versions of Home - 1.5 was downloaded from TT by 720 Internal originally, it then upgraded to 1.6. Home2 Beta came along (which I didn't touch, naturally), then that became general release, then that was upgraded to 2.0.0.370 (I think). And still we're Beta testing the thing! Has Microsoft bought them out? - I mean, we'd all still be Beta testing Windows 3.11 if they hadn't brought out newer ones for us to Beta test - I've been Beta testing Win XP X64 bit for quite some time now and it isn't getting any better!! And we're supposed to be on our THIRD version of firmware aren't we?
TWO WEEKS for four software versions and three firmwares. HALLO?? _________________ Dennis

Just in case V2 screwed up completely I created a restore point proir to installing.
Apart from not working correctly (!) it uninstalled easily.
Not having a shiny new TT I've not had to worry about FW on the device. |
