|

I have a ONE. I set up an itinerary for a several hundred mile trip with several waypoints. When I stopped at a rest stop and turned off the GPS, then tried to continue with the trip the directions reversed to take me home instead. When I was actually going home it pointed me to home until I got to a gas station, then it reversed on me and pointed me in my original direction. How are you supposed to control which direction it points along the itinerary, especially after turning it off and then restarting somewhere in the middle? The itinerary feature isn't very useful if it pulls this kind of thing. _________________ --David Chandler

If you just turn off the device, it should continue from where it left off.
Well my 910 does. _________________ Richard

I may be barking completely up the wrong tree here, but did you use the view map function to pick points as waypoints ?
I have done this before and as I didn't have the map zoomed in close enough, some of the points I had used turned out to be on the wrong carriageway of a motorway or dual carriageway. This results in the device taking you off the road and doubling back on yourself until you reach the (wrongly positioned) waypoint, then taking you back on track.
Try the route again, zooming fully on your chosen waypoints as you select them, ensuring their carriageway direction is correct. _________________ Tommo...

Marking waypoints as "Visited" appears to be the solution. Apparently the itinerary doesn't reverse automatically. That behavior is an artifact of trying to get to early "unvisited" waypoints. In researching this I found someone with software to reverse itineraries, but I don't know if you can load software onto a ONE. Anyone know what the SD Memory port can be used for on a ONE? (I'll ask this again in the general forum.) _________________ --David Chandler

I don't know how it handles dual carriageways though. _________________ Richard

OK, run that by me again! Say I download the program that reverses itineraries. Then I run it. You're saying somewhere an ITN file will be generated. (I don't know what an ITN file is, but I could look for one.) Then how to load it onto the ONE...no idea.
Hmmmm..... ITN = Itinerary ??? What format would that be? Is it a text or XML file I could create in a text editor? I guess I could go looking for an ITN file after running the HOME program.[/quote] _________________ --David Chandler

It's a text file.
You will find it on a TT in a Folder called ..... itn. ;)
It's just a copy/paste from the PC to the ONE.
I have also answered in your 'new' Topic. _________________ Richard

Doesn't that program run on the TT. _________________ Jock

You're right. I have never used it and should have read further.
I wonder how it handles dual carriageways. _________________ Richard

All that the prog does is reverse the order of the points that you already have in a ITN. It will have the same affect as if you did this manually. TT will then calculate the route from the ITN. _________________ Jock

If it just reverses the order of the locations, it will be on the wrong side of a dual carriageway, on the back.
That leads to some very complicated routing, especially when it keeps trying to take you to the other carriageway. _________________ Richard
