|
|
Just got my TT720 and have a couple of questions: Did a backup with TT Home and noted that the saved file is 1.7 GB -
1) what is the total capacity available within TT720
2) When downloading speed camera files etc, do I have to make space by deleting previous files, or does the most recent download overwrite files ?
I am new to satnavs and would appreciate some guidance
thanks |

PLEASE do a "copy and paste" backup with Windows Explorer too. Details in one of the TomTom FAQs sticky topic HERE.
In the past, Home has had a tendancy to "miss" large chunks out of its backups (such as the Loquendo folder with all the text to speech voices in it).
When you connect your TomTom to the PC it will be recognised as a new drive (or two drives in the case of the 520/720). If you shut "Home" if it insists on popping open, then view the drives in Windows Explorer (or "My Computer" they are much the same), that will answer your first question.
It is easier/better to use Explorer to copy the new speed camera files (from this site) too. Just like any PC files, the new ones will overwrite the old ones as they have the same names. |

The 720 has 2Gb of user memory which can be supplemented by the use of a suitable SD card. _________________ Tim |

Tim, does that mean I can download speed camera files onto the SD Card ? -
As I said, my backup file size is 1.7 GB leaving 300 MB of usable memory space.
I have noted on the forum that members have reported problems with various SD Card types, is there one type of SD Card that appears to be TT720 friendly ?
Thanks for your help - much appreciated |

The files associated with the Speed Camera Database (ov2 and bmp plus ogg audio for spoken alerts if you need these) should be placed in the map folder - the map folder is located in the flash memory on the device.
There is plenty of spare space to accomodate these files within the 2GB of storage space provided with the device.
The SD card slot is best left for overseas maps (when you need them) or music and pictures, as for one that works - make sure its got a fast read speed or the device will reject it - Mike |
