There are but there isn't a fool proof method. We can block email addresses and IP addresses. _________________ Darren Griffin |

The best thing to get is the mac address, as that how we ban people, I deal with the game server and not the forums, so it may just be in game that the mac address is used as well as IP address _________________ TomTom Go 700,

I think you should put your own add on ebay so people don't buy from those idiots, they can here. Put the link ect, and thats its £2 for a month!
Goto: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160136230234
This guy sold 1 copy of your databse for £25. He has sold hundreds! I seriously think if you can get his details, I will add up how much he has made out of your database and start recovery of funds so you get them! I would totally support you! |

that guys selling it for £25 when you can sell it for £2 and they send the database to there e-mails
So think that would be a better idea, and offer the 12 months after they buy the one download off you _________________ TomTom Go 700,

What do you need to identify these people?
Everytime there is an update it gets posted in the newsgroups but the poster uses an anonymous address. Do you need the actual uploaded files? _________________ Graham.

But this guy is saying, and I quote,
Note to Ebay - I have paid for these files and Speedaware camera locations are not copyrighted[b]
Speedaware is nothing to do with this site, or is it ? |

The listings make all sorts of spurious claims, I reported one yesterday which was Navigator 6 with our database, the text said:
Quote: | TOMTOM: I am not breaching your copyright as I downloaded all this data myself |
It beggars belief! eBay are as much to blame, they know this goes on, it makes them money and they don't care.
In the case you refer to above, I'll watch him, if he relists we'll make a test purchase and report if the data is ours. _________________ Darren Griffin

That's fine for a game but users can access our website from any web enabled PC. We aim simply to make it more trouble than it's worth to bother uploading them, our purge of eBay has reduced the numbers of sellers significantly but we still get 10+ a week. _________________ Darren Griffin |

We need the files themselves, Usenet is one area we haven't attacked but if you can email files to piracy AT pocketgpsworld.com we can decode and identify the users. We're only interested in recent databases to keep the workload manageable! _________________ Darren Griffin |

We did have a trial sale but eBay pulled it because we had a link to our website which breaches some policy. It's fine for a crook to sell our data but we get pulled because of a link!
In the end we decided that it would serve only to muddy the waters, it's much simpler to say we DO NOT sell on eBay and that any database on eBay is likely to be ours.
In response to another poster, of the many hundreds of listings we have reported, only one transpired not to be our data, and in that case it was from POIHandler and was being sold without their permission either!
So now in most cases we report carte blanche, if we're wrong we can retract without damaging the seller but it's simply uneconomic to test buy in every case and it gives the crooks more of our money to do so _________________ Darren Griffin |
