Managed to install my copy of Mapfactor Navigator 6 on my AytoBe! It is designed to be able to run on WinCE 4.2 as well as Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5! Seems quite a detailed package with some interesting POIs. It also seems to run quite quickly although I am yet to compare it to TomTom 6,02 on the AytoBe.
Mapfactor are now selling their version 7 which I haven't bought yet so you might have difficulty getting it. There are still some sites advertising it for sale though |

The software you need is all Freeware and listed below:
1) GPS2Blue 1.7
http://users.skynet.be/hofinger/GPS2Blue.html
2) .NET Compact Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=AEA55F2F-07B5-4A8C-8A44-B4E1B196D5C0&displaylang=en
4) Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 (only tested on this version)
5) HW VSP
http://www.hw-group.com/products/hw_vsp/index_en.html#download
Install Active Sync on Laptop (if not already using it)
Install .NET 2.0, but does not start via ActiveSync, you need to copy the .cab over and install that way.
Install Gps2Blue on AyToBe.
Settings: IP should be 192.168.55.101, remote: 192.168.55.100.
tick TCP/IP. GPS is on COM6 at 9600. Click "On" to start.
Install HW VPS on Laptop. Settings: Select(settings tab): HW VP work as the TCP Server only.
Unselected(settings tab): Don't create VSP Port if Ping to
remote device failed.
in VSP tab: IP: 192.168.55.101(your IP) Port: 31873
Port name: COM5 or any free port name. Server Port: 31873.
Theses settings work both on my Laptop and Desktop pc, running Windows XP SP2.
Make sure you always install software to MMC_Storage. Good idea to make a folder called Program Files. |
cool, I got netstumbler (on my laptop) working with this setup. |
hi there .. I need help.. was trying to install .NET 2.0 to my A2B but still no luck ,, dunno what i am doing really ..will someone guide me pleaseee,, really appreciate it ..thanks 8) |

Hi,
No matter what I do, I CANNOT get the CAB to install!
I've connected by activesync, navigated to the directory in which the tomtom6 and tomtomtoday cab files are stored, but where do I go from here? All it does if I click on the CAB file is give me the properties!
And if I try by card reader...not a valid win32 application

No luck with the WinCE conversion either - whenever I try to copy the autorun file to the desktop, it's telling me access is denied! WTF is this, is it read only or what?! |

You have to copy the cab file onto the device by Activesync and run it from there. Just copy it into My Documents on the Aytobe and double click on it from My computer. |

Hello! Does anyone know of a backup/restore program that can run on this machine? I have had to do a reset on the road a couple of times when it's locked up and I have been unable to restart TomTom and had to do a restore at home using Activesync, not much use if you get stuck in the middle of nowhere! I know someone was asking earlier if one can restore from the SD card but I haven't seen a reply. Is everyone getting bored with this machine? |

Not getting bored with mine - I use it constantly!
For backing up I keep a folder on my PC with everything from the A2B. To restore I just copy it over. I suppose you could do the same with an SD card.
Has anyone tried the PocketPC version of Route 66 Navigator? I have the full version on my laptop and found it very good. |

Yea me to a backup/restore on th fly would be ideal for me. I installed tt6.02 and got it to run using the regedit and reg file posted on Datacave.
I droped the regeditor and the reg file in the TT directory, now I can do a reset and run Regedit import the ref file and alls well on the road.
https://datacave.co.uk/showthread.php?t=156339
https://datacave.co.uk/showthread.php?t=155209
Then do a full restore when I get home.
Hope this helps. |

You have the same problem that I had I posted a link to another site above {about 4 post up}
You need to run the reg editor then inport the reg update file.
that should solve your problem.
Its some thing to do with mydocumnets folder in WinCe |
