I dont know if i'm missing the obvious but i'm really having trouble deleting false cameras.
I press the button to add a camera as i get to the false one and then select delete camera but then nothing happens - i just go straight back to TomToms map window.
I thought at first the Checkpoint had intelligently removed the nearest camera automatically but it hasnt - its still there. Then I thought maybe i'd have to select the camera to delete manually but if i tap the camera on the map screen i get the TomTom Navigate screen up as normal.
Can anyone help me out here? The notes talk a lot about adding cameras but not deleting them - maybe cos its so easy!! I presume its just a VDU problem (very dumb user ) so any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
The easiest way is to make a note of the missing cameras and send an email to Darren (cameras@pocketgpsworld.com) with details of the missing cameras. If you use TTNav in map mode and tap the offending camera’s POI you will get the camera’s id number (i.e. GATSO: xxxx). This means that everybody benefits from your observations.
The camera database is updated on a regular basis. Darren likes to issue a new one when he can. The sooner you can send the information in, then there’s more chance of it appearing in the next version of the database.
Once you’ve made a note of each of the missing camera’s id and informed Darren, then you can remove them from your own copy of the camera database. To do this you need TTNav to be in map mode, find the offending camera POI, hold the stylus on the POI until the pop-up box appears, tap the “more” option, tap the “Delete point of interest”, and confirm action by tapping “yes”. Repeat as necessary. 8)

Hi, thanks for the reply. Emailing in the updates isnt a problem as long as i know how to do it !!
Is that really the easiest way to do it? Does the CheckPoint "Add Camera button" not work?
I thought the recommended way was to press the ChecckPoint hardware button, add or remove a camera as necessary and email the complete updated .ov2 file?

Hi,
I’ve never used or set up the CheckPOInt "Add Camera button", so I can’t comment on adding or removing POIs that way.
My method of capturing locations of new cameras is probably different to most people. I use a handheld (Garmin 12XL) GPS unit to store the position. When safe I park the vehicle and take a reading right by the unit. However, if it’s dangerous to stop then my girlfriend takes a reading whilst we’re safely driving past the camera. I then make a note of the longitude and latitude together with details of the road name/number speed limit etc.. I then send Darren the information in a standard email. 8)
Darren has never complained of my method. Although if you don’t like it, Darren, then please say! ;-)
