Anyone else notice the extra information bar down the left hand side of the screen? I presume that's to do with the subscribed traffic updates? |

The right hand side you mean? Yes that's the Traffic status bar. If you subscribe to Traffic on any TomTom either via GPRS or TMC/FM you will see that bar. _________________ Darren Griffin |

This new TomTom is £100 more than the existing TT1 just to add traffic as an option! and a widescreen. Not worth it! When you can buy a 510 with traffic for £259.
I will stick with my TT Mobile with GPRS traffic. |

£259??? you can get a 910 for £270 from komplett which I assume is a fair bit better than 510 or 700?
looking at gettine myself so i may as well get the best one but it seems the 910 has poor mounting so perhaps 700 is better? |

True but you're comparing a discounted price with an MRP. The 700 is discontinued and the revised x10 mounting is fine. _________________ Darren Griffin |

ahh didnt know there was a revised mounting for them, just keep reading review after review saying the mounting is complete crap.
still i think its 710 for me, dont need usa maps and thats the only real difference i can see to the 910 apart from the hard drive (better off without the hard drive imo, moving parts = wear out and die or go wrong much easier).
gotta find the best price for a 710 now hmmm 249 is about the best i can find and thats comet |

Dont forget the 710 doesn't have text to speech to read out street names and your text messages etc, thats worth the extra cost alone in my opinion . Also the MP3 player and remote control are a good idea too. I thought the remote would be a waste of time and i'd never use it, but to be honest i use it all the time now, its much safe to use the remote than it is to take your eye off the road and use the touch screen. |

hmm didnt know the 710 was missing text to speech. dont want the mp3 but the remote may be useful. looks like ill go for the 910. if im gonna spend 250 anyway then may as well spend the extra 30 and get everything. |

Good choice you wont regret it. I think the remote alone cost's £25 if you buy it separately, so you've nearly saved the price difference there already. Oh yes and the remote uses radio waves rather than infra red too, so no faffing about pointing the remote at the screen trying to get it to work |

As someone who's looking to buy their first GPS, I can't see the justification in purchasing this over the basic ONE v2, which I can get for £155-£160 online.
Unless someone can make a convincing argument, I still think I'd be better of buying the basic ONE v2. |

Unless you place that much value in the wide screen then I couldn't justify the additional expense. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Of course you could always go the pda route, my hx4700 in 2d mode shows the road ahead far greater than a stand alone, i can see the route well in advance.
I agree portrait is much better than widescreen. |
