John,
In WinFast Navigator, be sure you have:
COM Port=COM 6 (ipaq 4100 series, correct?)
Baud Rate= 4800
Data Protocol=NMEA
If you have previously test your Bluetooth connection in Bluetooth Manager, you need to either DO A SOFT RESET or Disconnect from Bluetooth Manager first!

Ian: Yes, COM8 is for iPAQ 2215 but iPAQ 4100 series uses COM 6. iPAQ 19xx series uses COM 5. So, different iPAQ model uses different COM port. |

Yes tried that, and it the pda doesn't receive any data.
I will have to give you a ring tomorrow (wed, +5 hours diff of course)

In tomtom I select bluetooth com port 8 and off it goes.
I also have the spp or active sync serial port confusion but it doesn't appear to effect its operation.
I wouldn't be surprised if the unit doesn't work as I'm waiting for an RMA no. from global positioning systems on the cf card (which I've realised is doesn't work if the external antenna isn't attached - hadn't noticed until yesterday when I wanted to use it when out walking and it refused to find any sats) - haicom don't appear to have a brilliant quality record!
One thing I have noticed is that with tomtom gps installed gps info won't work at all - which gives the impression that the gps doesn't work.

If you have access to a PDA with CF Slot such as Dell Axim X5 or iPAQ 2215, please test the CF GPS card and see if you are getting any singal/NMEA string. Also, please try to perform a factory reset on this receiver.
Please send me an email if you do not know how to perform a factory reset on the GPS receiver.

Guys,
I tried the gps unit in a h2210 and it worked, didn't get a fix because I work in central London with tall buildings, but did manage to lock onto 1 sat.
I did a reset and took it out the 2210 and put it back in the slipper and it connected with bluetooth (ubit started) but it didn't work.
So could I have one of those gps that do not work with the slipper, or is it a communication problem between the slipper and the gps?
When I start navman and it asks for the gps in bluetooth browser, I click HAICOM BT GPS, it starts the gps and I go to bluetooth connection status, it says
Device HAICOM BT GPS
Status: Not connected
there is no signal strength either
So is the slipper compatable with the pda??
Not sure what to do now. |

Could be, do you have a transparent barcode and what COM port were you trying to connect with via Bluetooth on the 2210 ?
Also what speed were you using, and were you connecting as NMEA or SiRF ? |

Yes it does have a transparent barcode, red buttons (?) and a blue front.
Just tried it on the 2210 with the bluetooth and it does exactly the same as the 4150 - Nothing. It connects on port 8 and connects with the bluetooth browser as HAICOM BT GPS. Same as above posts, it connects as a activesync serial connection and in status, it says not connected with no signal.
Plugged just the cf card again in and it worked fine (apart from getting a fix due to position). So it looks as if its the slipper. Either not compatable or not working. |

Hi Ben,
1) This device cannot be connected via Active Sync, no usable service will be offered by the Slipper. Only SPP Slave will help you get connected. PLEASE DELETE THIS PROFILE / Shortcut from your Bluetooth Manager My Shortucts page.
2) Did you ever enter a Pass Key of “0000” ?
3) DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT manually make a connection from within Bluetooth Manager. If you did, you have to disconnect it there and then try again. The reason is if this connection is established manually, TomTom GPS will be blocked and cannot use the COM 6 to established a connection.
4) So, the simple step is:
a) Do a soft-reset on your PDA
b) Turn on your HI-401BTs
c) Run TomTom GPS software and when prompted for a GPS device in Bluetooth Browser, select the “HAICOM BT GPS” by tapping on it ONCE.
d) That is all. If you go back to Bluetooth Manager now, the HAiCOM BT GPS icon should NOT BE CONNECTED.
If you still cannot get a connection, please arrange with me on a return or exchange for a new unit. RMA form is at:

Got the unit back from www.Buygpsnow and it works fine.
Turns out that the gps 303mmf was probably one of those that dont work. I put this down to Haicom as both units came in the same box.
