Refugee from the defunct Drivesmart forum saying Hi
Would anyone here know where I could get a PSU that would fit the Drivesmart unit, mine has gone belly up, and Drivesmart seem to have gone out of business. :x
Thanks in advance
Karlos. |

Welcome to PocketGPSWorld, quite a few DS forum users seem to be on THIS Thread, so I guess you might get a better answer on there - Mike |

Hi Karlos,
Glad you found us!
You are right Mike there are a growing number of refugees taking refuge here since DS pulled the plug on their own forum a week ago. An obvious place to go as it was alway a popular site with us and of course we can take our blinkers off here and expand our horizons hopefully learning from the experiences of your forum members as well as hopefully contributing some of ours. 8) |

Hi Karlos
The only thing I can recommend is if you try Maplins. Otherwise if it is the unit into the cigarettte lighter. You could always cut it off and hard wire from a lead to you radio. If you do make sure you put an inline 3amp fuse in. As I have done this.
If I can help any further just ask and I will see what I can do.

Do you have any news on the grapevine as to what is the current situation with Drivesmart.

PS Is it possible to have a section set up for ex-drivesmart members to go too.
Thanks

Did you read this Tim, posted by nomadros under heading B2 Solo topic.
Quote: | BTW, sorry to hear about the DriveSmart fiasco but they always seems so full of it. I think the last straw was when the world found out that the new Laser Star was actually a reverse engineered LPP that they had been slagging off ten months ago! |
As I never pursued eiher the Def2 or Laser Star and had no experience of laser detection as such, LPP was not a product I have explored, but obviously somewhere along the line I missed this revelation. Do you know anything about it?
Have you been away yet? 8) |

Having a topic headed Drivesmart is a good idea Tim. 8)
At the moment we seem to have Drivesmart conversations over various other topics and it is difficult to see where one bit ends and another starts. _________________ TomTom Go 60

Thanks, very much.
Regards Tim
Nuttynurse,
No, never heard of the LPP. As for the pocketworld database and my TT. I have been back off hioliday now for a week and have tried the database over about 700 miles going to variuos locations nortfh and south. And I have to say that it is actually very good. The main benefit is that it does seem to locate all the sites for safety vans, which as I was running my DS alongside was very short of this detail. The other beauty of it was that as a camera was flagged up by the audio warning you could actually see where it was on your view of the map, so you could see whether this was of any concern for you. Especially useful again for safety vans loctaed along the motorways. The only downfall was that it could not give you a reading of your speed over a specs section.
Overall decision was that it was far better than my DS, having said that I will continue to run my DS alongside my TT for the time being.
GJF I believe you do a fair few miles a week. You will be amazed at how many safety van location sites there are on the motorways.
Hope this answers some of your questions.
Regards |

Thanks Rushkins, it reassuring to have your feedback on the database. Still haven't rushed out and bought anything yet as at the moment I am having the Golf GTI moted and checked over for the hols.
I don't remember any discussion previously suggesting that the "Laser Star" was infact a reversed engineered LPP. You learn something every day. 8) |
