Are you locking it to the second lock position?

Are you putting it on a *flat* part of your screen?

When you fix the sucker on the screen, and tighten it you are creating a partial vacuum between the screen and the sucker, but there is always some air inside. If that air is cold, it will expand as it warms up, reducing the vacuum, and possibly allowing the mount to fall off. If you're going out on a cold day, it's always worthwhile refixing the mount after the car has warmed up. That way you restore the vacuum to its designed level. It's even worse if the screen is damp, because as well as the air warming, any moisture trapped inside the sucker will also evaporate, increasing the pressure even more. And yes, having the heater on full on the screen will make it even worse.

I use one of those demister pads (a sponge covered in Chamois) placed under the TomTom ONE, which partially supports the weight of the ONE and starting on a cold day on 100+ mile journeys the ONE hasn’t moved. It’s also a good reminder when you pack the ONE away at the end of the journey to use the demister pad to wipe away the tell-tale circular sucker mark from the windscreen.

I’ve just received the Brodit mount for the TomTom ONE so I’ll fix it up and hopefully be able to write a review in the not too distant future.

Regards,

if possible its best not to use the windscreen mount.... for various reasons like marks left on the windscreen and the sucker falling off whilst driving...try and buy or adapt the mount to a permanent one , located somewhere on the dash...

I’m not a fan of mounting SatNav equipment on an air vent. I don’t think that they are strong enough.

Have you had a look at the Brodit ProClip for your particular vehicle?

Regards,

When I first got the GO710, for several days I was driving myself nuts over the sucker falling off my Renault Kangoo windscreen.

I suddenly discovered that I had it so low that it was partly on the little black dots which form a border to the windscreen. They are little lumps of black stuff (sorry for the tech-speak, but we must be accurate) and they were slowly degrading the vacuum. In my case (Renault also) it was this simple. This could be what classy56 refers to.
