Hi all,
My i3 went dodgy (wouldn't keep a Satellite Lock) so I sent it back to Garmin. They very nicely fixed it for me (well swapped the unit) but they have sent me back a unit with Maps on Transflash, not internally. It does have FW 3.2 and V9 maps. Do you think I should keep it or send it back and ask for one with internal maps?
I think it will be ok, but thought I would check with you guys. _________________ Garmin i3

it will be ok mate, if when using it there no problems, then leave it as it is, if you get lockups then go back to firmware v2.7.. _________________ *************************** |

keep the transflash one in my opinion. you have lotsa space for custom poi's without having to mess about with a card reader.

ps - that assumes it ONLY has transflash, not some weird hybrid with both internal memory and transflash! |

Thanks guys, will leave as is. Just had to dowload the English voice though as that wasn't installed!
So is there a Hybrid now? _________________ Garmin i3

There is a point there.....
My replacement Garmin i3 came back with an American voice.
It is not a major problem, just an irritation!
How can I get English Jane back to nag me gently??

Have you gone in to settings/ Laungauge/ Voice Langauge and selected British English? the voice file takes a while to load once selected, if the option is not available:
Do you have a back up of the original device?
If so you need to copy the English_British_.vpm file to the voice folder on the card.
With either option you will get a voice, but Jane is reserved for TomTom users, unless this is a pet name you use - Mike |

The card reader on my laptop will not take the mini card in the i3. I wasn't expecting it to crash anyway!
Yup, English Jane is a Tom-Tom lass, but actually lives in Holland, where she recorded the voices for Tom Tom. 8)
I am VERY puzzled as to why I have not got the voice language option now :o |

Problem - The English voice is not installed.
Solution - Connect your i3 to your PC and do a Web update. It will probably say you are on the latest version do you want to check fro other updates, select yes. The English Voice should be an option to download. Download it and you should be fixed.
Seems like the i3s that Garmin are sending out have minimal Software installed. _________________ Garmin i3

Well after using i3 extensively over the weekend I hvae found that the friendly lockups are back!!!
Just called Garmin, they have agreed to exchange unit for an internal maps unit as an urgent turn around (no idea how long that will take, will post back when I receive it). _________________ Garmin i3
