Windows XP will unzip if you double click the file. Some earlier Win versions don't, in which case you'd need to get a copy of an unzipping program (I believe you can get a free download from the net).
If you were successful in unzipping the file, you do NOT open anything, simply copy the OV2 and BMP files into the map folder on your GO700. _________________ Dennis

Download it again and when it asks where you want to save the file change the filename to
camera.zip |

I think he HAS unzipped it succesfully, Paul.
Markham... You are not dealing with Windows files at all. You are just using it as the "delivery boy". As Dennis says, don't try to open it, just copy it into the map folder on your TT and let TT sort it out.
,
Hopefully you should be OK now, but if you are still having problems post back. If you do, it really helps if you can give as much info as possible, such as the actual filenames of what you download and what extacts when you unzip (including the three-letter extensions) |

The map folder is called something related to your map - such as "Great_Britain-Map", "Western_Europe" or "Outer_Mongolia-and-surrounding-area".
On a 700, it will be "Western Europe something or other", but as I don't have a 700 I can't tell you the exact name with all the hyphens in the right place. It should be obvious though.
When you've put the camera .ov2 file in the right place, there should be files called things like cline.dat, cnode.dat and cname.dat in the same folder. |

On my 700 I have an old map folder called Western_Europe-Map (with underscore and hyphen characters) and a new one called Western Europe with a space and no underscore or hyphen. _________________ Dennis

NO. Plug your GO into the computer using the USB cable and switch it on. Home will start - let it do so, but leave it alone.
Start up Windows Explorer, then use it to look at the GO's drive, where you will see the map folder (as I indicated earlier). Now go to the folder on your computer where you have the unzipped camera files. Copy the OV2 and BMP files and paste them into the GO's map folder. That's the main business done.
Go back into TT Home and click on the "eject" button to disconnect your GO, THEN unplug the GO and switch it on - this time when you switch it on it will clicketty clogs (actually hammers and hands) then start up.
Tap, then tap Change Preferences | then tap Enable/disable POIs | then select (tap) all the camera POIs, then tap DONE.
Tap, then tap Change Preferences | then tap arrow to move to screen and tap Manage POIs | tap Warn when near POI | choose a camera to warn about | choose a distance for the warning (just tap done for now and accept whatever distance it is offering) | choose a warning sound | Done. Repeat this paragraph until you have set a warning for every camera.
Set a route to anywhere you like (so long as it's likely to have a speed camera).
Then press bottom right of screen.
Then press bottom left "Details".
Then press "Show route demo".
Slide the speed to at least 200% or more and press Done.
Sit back and watch and listen - the first camera you go near should show up and shout "Look out matey" or whatever sound you chose (Look out matey is NOT available).
Tap the screen and end the demo.
Come back here and say "Yippee folks, it works like crazy"
PLEASE. (fingers crossed) _________________ Dennis

A big thank you to everyone who helped me with this problem.I know from my own work how irritating it is to try and explain something you consider simple to someone who just does not get it .In particular I would like to thank dennisN for his excellent step by step guide.

Well done.
Thank you for your kind words, you've just made my day. To be honest, I was really worried about doing that, panic stricken that the next post would be about grandmothers and eggs! Doing this by remote control none of us have any idea how much the advisee already knows or how they are reacting, so we all feel a little bit tentative with advice. I'm just glad to have been of help for once. I'll come back to you later for your words on the universe and everything. _________________ Dennis
