I have not downloaded the new maps for my GO 500 as yet but would be interested to know where on the screen the Road Speeds are shown and what size are the numerals can they be seen clearly at a glance.

You don't need the new maps to see what it's like - Try it NOW - you don't need to be driving...
Change Preferences ... Status Bar Preferences then tick Speed

It will show bottom centre of screen and many of us have been using this function for ages (because the Satnav speed is more accurate than your car speedo - Satnav calculation is A to B divided by time taken).

However, with the new maps, they contain roadspeed information which the latest software (v6.xxx) can recognise and gives a "New, Improved" service, namely a display of the current speed limit of the road you're driving along - e.g. 28/30mph means you're doing 28 in a 30mph limit area. The displayed speed and speed limit turn red when you go a couple of miles faster than the limit, then flashes red when you go more than a couple over. Brilliant. Jumping With Joy

EXCEPT Evil or Very Mad the map data is rather unreliable, so you can get told the wrong speed limit, or even more often, no limit info.
EXCEPT also Evil or Very Mad that the red display is a poor colour on top of your black or dark blue screen annoyingly flashing but very hard to see what it's telling you. Even more annoying if the speed limit info is incorrect and you're not actually speeding (M5 south 50 miles from J22 to J30 thinks the speed limit is 60mph and when I drive at 68 the thing flashes it's **** head off illegibly!).
You'll get this speed limit function when you use the new map - no choice, if you have elected to display Speed as in my directions above, you'll get the limit as well. There haven't been many good words for TT on this "improvement" I'm afraid!
