After tons of emails with TomTom Support, they finally accepted that the CAB files of the seamless map of Europe in my DVD are corrupt, and they made the download version of the Europe map available on my account, and I could finally install it, with no problems, via TomTom Home.
Additionally, they sent me a replacement DVD, which arrived this morning.
And guess what?!? Even in this new DVD the CAB files with the seamless map of Western Europe are corrupt!!!!
This demonstrates that ANYONE who has bought Navigator 6 software + maps of Western Europe has this problem, as it is impossible to "unpack" the Europe map from the retail DVD.
And frankly, I am surprised that I am the only one in this forum to have noticed it!!! |

Probably because like me I installed mine from the DVD without any problems. _________________ Graham.

Did you buy the TomTom Navigatgor 6 Software and Maps of Western Europe product?
Because if you bought a bundle product, or the HP version, or a memory-card bundle, then the production DVD might be different (meaning bug-free).
The problem I reported also happens to the TomTom people in their own office, even though for some reason they do not seem to be able to fix it other than giving you the map in downloadable form... |

Is that the version that they sold for HP devices?
I have bought the product directly from TomTom, as soon as it was released in mid October, and the map version is different from yours. It is 650.1127. |

No its not an HP specific version, but (I think) the normal retail version, at least it comes with installation options for:
Palm
PocketPC
S60
Symbian UIQ 3rd Edition
I ordered from Amazon.de in mid-October and it arrived beginning of November.
Hope this helps.
Cheers for now. _________________ HP iPaq h5550 ROM 1.10.10 ENG

I had the same behavior with the US/Canada DVD. Some maps included would not install and/or activate. TT tried everyway they could to blame it on me or my device. As my codes work on the other maps they could not figure it out or maybe didn't want to admit they have distributed a lot of defective DVDs. Haven't heard from them in ten days so I guess there is not a fix.
They also have a stripped down version of the US/Canada map so it will fit, I presume, on a 1gb card. |

I bought the normal retail version of TomTom V6 Maps of Western Europe on DVD, options to install to Pocket PC, Palm, S60 and Symbian UIQ Edition 3.
The installed software was modified after install by removing some of the language/Voice files I don't need/use to give me more space on the 1 Gig SD Card for additional POI files and Speed camera files with the .OOG files. _________________ Graham.

Hi,
I had the same problem loading the Western Europe maps. It turned out that my temporary folder on my computer did not have enough disk space to unpack the maps. I freed up space on my hard drive and the problem went away. Tom Tom Home was able to unpack all of the maps and then install them directly onto my SD memory card.
If you have this problem, make sure your hard drive has enough free disk space to hold all the unpacked maps. |

Hi sirox
I’m sorry to hear about your difficulties but surely all the disks are mass produced and identical. If one disk has bugs then surely they all have bugs. And if that was the case surely Tomtom would be overwhelmed with complaints.
Are you sure the fault is on the disk? _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

I also had a problem with activation. It turned out that I was entering the PRODUCT code for my WE maps 2005 - the ones that came with TT5.0.
Once I realised that and entered the product code that was on the web page after I ordered it, it all went smoothly.

I've had exactly the same problem with my work laptop trying to install the Western Europe map via both active sync and a USB card reader.
I tried to disable my AV, clear temp files and relocate the TomTom Home directories away from my roaming profile without success. In the end I gave up and tried my home PC using its built in SD reader and it worked fine.
My home PC is also networked to Active Directory so I don't think that is an issue.
I know it's not much help, however the reason for my post is to say that in my case the problem is NOT due to corruption on the DVD as it works fine on another machine - it must be an incompatibility with the configuration of my laptop.
I hope this helps other people diagnose the problem.

Hi, I found the real problem is the amount of space on the windows temporary drive. Even though I told TomTomHome to put all my info on a larger data drive via the preferences, it still tried to unpack to the windows install drive, where there was not enough room. Clearing it to give about 1.2gig space did the trick first time. |
