hi there, is it possible to drive a route which you prefer, whether or not its fastest/quickest etc, and then have tom tom 6 remember the route that you have taken in order to repeat the journey another time?
if so how do you do this please?
thanks...... |

No, not possible.
Use the itinerary feature to store frequently traveled routes. But this will not give you the actually traveled route.
TomTom are recording trip data on the x10 devices but that data is encrypted and not usable for your purposes. _________________ Lutz

Hi
There is an third party app that can do that for you called ToolsTools
http://www.toolstools.tk/
try the link above
They now have a TT6 version
I only have TT5 so haven't tried it but I guess it will work.

Hi gacrane
I have had a quick look at Tools Tools and it looks quite interesting. I have book marked the site and will go back later to have a look in more depth. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Hi steev
I haven’t seen the actual files that you mention but I presume that you will have to connect your PDA to the computer, synchronize, unzip the files and then follow the instruction on your computer screen. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Just tried toolstools on a xda mini s without sucess. It doesn't update the itinerary file, altough it says it's tracking. Someone else has mentioned this bug on another forum. Shame, because it's a feature I'd find useful. |

Hi
Just as a point of note it does work on mt TT5 without any problems and has for sometime now, but the one thing it did require was the itn folder to be on the root of the PDA. I haven't tested it on TT6 as I don't have it.
Basically you start the Tracking and when finished you press stop tracking it creates an itn file called latestroute and places a waypoint on at every change in road name (usually turning)
The download is a CAB file but if you just have the EXE file place that anywhere you want as when you what it to do the tracking it needs to be running in the back ground. If you want to add an icon to the TT menu you can get or make files for that too.

We have tried toolstools on TT5 / WM2003 and it works great, but on WM5/TT6 it doesnt
The reason seems to be that TT6 requires the ITN directory to be on the SD card, which the PPC calls SD CARD and toolstools creats a directory called ITN on STORAGE CARD, because its the wrong directory it doesnt finish saving the .itn file.
If you have 2 machines (and who doesn't ;-)), use TT5 on one and TT6 on the other and copy the .itn files from TT5 to TT6
I've emailed the developers to see if anything can be sorted out. Lets wait and see

I've now accessed thre tooltools site and they mention Version 2 of this software. Is this the one that does not appear to work with TT6? _________________ XDA Orbit (the best so far)

Version 2 does not appear to work with TomTom6 that is installed from the SD card, I dont know about the DVD version. The problem has been reported and they have sent me an updated version to try, unfortunatley the mail server at work decided it was suspicious so blocked it. I hope they send me a zipped version by 2morrow, we can then try it with the sets we have and report back. I think its probably a combination of SD card install and probably TomTom, perhaps they should think about allowing people the choice of where the program is installed. I can see the point of providing an SD card, but when they are used for so much more than navigation there should be an option for custum install onto something larger
I will report back when we have tried the new version. Dont let this little problem put you off, I feel its going to be one of the best apps for TT6

UPDATE
Ive been in emails with the developer, We've got a later version of the program and now it starts to do things, but very strange things!
It now produces a file that TT6 can find but still has no data in, but if we plan a route a-b and use the browse map function to choose 2 places (gb map + major roads of europe, it always pick somewhere in germany) it works!, but try the same thing in great britain and it produces the file but does not record anything!
At the moment we are using TT5 and toolstools to produce the .itn files and copying them into TT6 which will read them. Its a bit heath robinson but we need the routes for the gritting wagons. Im sure it will work out soon though

Just came across this thread because I was looking for the exact same thing, a program to track and then save my routes on TomTom.
Only problem is the site now seems to be old, are they still answering emails for the registration code? I sent an email last night to info@toolstools.tk but have not had a reply yet.
Anyone have any ideas as I want the program. |
