Hi
No you don`t need to convert files as I think you will find it already is an ogg file. the only reason for conversion is if you have other audio files such as a wave file, this would need to be converted to an ogg file as Tomtom uses ogg files.
are there any warning voices avialble but without the siren added in front.
I have used tthe excellent voices from ray's site but these are all with siren.
I would prefer a sound of chime or something instead of siren
As one earlier poster has said after a while one starts to ignore the real police/ambulance sirens.
many thanks.

22050Hz is the sample frequency for your device the lower 16000Hz sample rate is for mobile (smart) phone devices, i.e. the ones without a touch screen - Mike

PLEASE HELP ME OUT, I'm going batty.
TomTom One, Version 2 (app 6.520), map v660.1199
I've tried in vain to get the Liz .ogg files to work, but nothing i try seems to do the job. I have loaded them into my map folder with exactly the same filenames as each zoned camera (e.g. pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ogg), one for each of the zoned .ov2 & .bmp files, so I now have 3 files for each camera.
On the TomTom POI's, all the camera's are enabled, and in the "warn when near POI" menu, all camera's show a sound icon next to them, and the option to select a warning sound is no longer shown. The icons appear as before when approaching the cameras, but no sounds are issued. All speed zoned cameras are enabled. I have un installed the cameras / .ogg files separately, then re-installed them, again, separately. Without the .ogg files, the warnings work fine with beeps, bells etc, but as soon as I re-install the .ogg files, all looks to be in order, but no sounds are issued for any camera's. I have tried the .ogg files with WINAMP, all play without a problem. I am using the Liz 22050 files, and have re-named them all so that I have one for each zoned cam. Any Ideas PLEASE, this is making me feel silly!.

Which Navigation voice have you got selected and is it active? - one thing that does mess up ogg sound warnings, is when you delete the voice files then select a greyed out icon.
Some people do this just to get speed camera warnings without navigation prompts. I have found if set up this way the unit will play the ogg warning but at such a low volume you struggle to hear it - Mike

Hi Mike, thanks for your super quick reply. I have Jane (English UK) as the navigation voice, she is shouting loud and clear with directions, but no camera warnings are heard (Liz 22050Hz files). I am assuming I have used suitable file names for the individual zoned cameras, as each one automatically shows a sound icon next to it in the "Manage POI's" menu. When I remove the .ogg's, these sound icons disappear, then I can manually select one of the pre-set beeps, boings etc for each camera zoned type.
Does this give any further clues?.
One option which has crossed my mind is to compare / exchange my version of .ogg's with someone who's got them working (but can't find anyone) although I don't think this is where the problem lies, as they all play fine with Winamp

OK, TOM TOM ONE V2 Speed Cam voice warnings finally working................
After lots of trial and error, I had to REMOVE all .ogg files from the SD card, Reset the unit (with a pin etc because it wouldn't power up after I'd changed data on the SD card), disable all speed camera poi's, Reset again, THEN re-load the .ogg files into the map folder, then re-enable the speed camera POI's one by one. At this point, all zoned cam's have the voice icon automatically assigned, and no option is given to choose a different alert sound.
I can only assume I had confused it by my original method of .ogg installation - I simply added the files to the TomTom which already had beep 5 set up for ALL zoned camera's. Looking at other posts, performing a re-set seems to cure many problems, including mine
Many Thanks Mike for your suggestions, the "Mess Up" point sent me down the right road (no pun intended!)

Just as a matter of interest to any one having a similar problem, this may help, or at least be worth a try. (At least it worked for me)
After installing all the .ogg files as recommended and going into the POI settings for the camera's.
Although all of the various cameras were still selected with a icon for sound next to them as per usual, "so in theory they were set-up as should be", but non of them actually played my personal warning sounds at all.
When taken on a simulated journey, (fortunately I have some speed cameras close to home so this made it easier to test) although if the speed of the simulated journey is set too high, they will not sound anyway, so keep the setting around about 300%.
Only by "re-selecting" each in turn and checking the distance settings did they then work.
So, whilst the initial set-up appears correct, it still actually needs re-configuring, which then happens automatically when re-selecting the distance settings.
So this may be the problem that some people are actually experiencing, and not that they are installing incorrectly. _________________ (If it ain't broke, I can soon fix it)
I have a curiousity question - Why would you choose anything other than "only warn if on route"? Why would you want to be warned of something not on your route?[/quote]
If you tick the only warn if on route box the alarm will only go off for a camera that is shown actually on or right next to the road. If there is a camera that is shown a bit away from the road, on the path if you like, then the alarm will not go off.

This is really a misleading phrase which really means.
On Route, = With a pre planned journey.
Off Route, = NO pre planned journey.
If selected, the warnings "will only sound" when driving around with a pre-planned journey.
If "NOT selected", the warnings "WILL sound" even when just driving around, using the device for camera warnings. _________________ (If it ain't broke, I can soon fix it)

Think I can answer that. As a Class 1 HGV driver, if I'm podgering down the motorway at 56mph and there's a half hour delay ahead, standing traffic because of a numbnut who has gone to sleep... I could decide to turn off the motorway at the junction ahead. There may be a low bridge on one of the roads just off the motorway I could go down, which is not on my original planned route. I would want a warning for that so I know to either stay on the motorway or take a different route.
That's why I would want to be warned of something not necessarily on my route.

kendo... No, this is for POI warnings.
As I just said in another post, if TomTom chose to change the way they do it, I suggest you:
Quote:
1. Contact TomTom and tell them they are fools (not to allow customisation of their new method).
2. Use the camera database from here instead, which will give you full control over alert distance and sound or voice alert messages.
