Several people have reported unexpected program crashes/reboots since 'upgrading' to v3.2. It might help in resolving this if we could establish whether there is a common pattern to the crashes.
If I start this new thread, perhaps we could all post details here of how and when crashes occur and exactly what the device was doing at the time?

OK I will kick off.
Unit on for about ten minutes.
No active route
cockpit mode
*May* have been in overview, plane symbol showing, but I am not sure about that.
about 300 yards after making a right turn.
running on batteries about half charge
no cameras within at least a mile or so.
I seem to have the UK 2006.01+ maps - but I just ran the upgrade process and ticked *all* the boxes. _________________ Mio C710 on MioMap 3.3 |

Hi to all.
Had an unexpected crash this morning (the Mio, not the car :D ).
Whizzing into town on the A3, just by the Merton turn off, after about 3 seconds of the overspeed warning starting, the thing rebooted on it's own.
First time that's happened to me.
This v3.2 is really beginning to bug me. It was so stable before the upgrade.

Yes it happened to me the other day. Was navigating a route in cockpit mode. No active warnings as far as I could see. It re-booted itself but the route was saved.
I should have followed my nose and waited until 3.21 !
By the way anyone have experience of putting tom tom 5 on the A701 ? |

I was poking about on the Mio with Bluetooth last night. In the top directory, the one that has the lang, maps & voice folders I found an ASCII file called crash.txt - Does not say much but would be interesting if everyone was getting the crash at the same point.

I don't know the ARM interrupt codes but I would put money on a NULL pointer :-) _________________ Mio C710 on MioMap 3.3 |

I had a couple of fatal errors on 8th October, after downloading 3.2, (but I was testing Sallyann's mtc builder as well, and, (incredibly it seems now), thought it might be a camera error in the rebuilt mtc file, trusting in Mio to post a reliable 3.2 update.
This is what I wrote on the 8th:
Quote: | Just a quick update, will post details in the morning. I used the "beta" version of SallyAnn's mtc maker, then downloaded the 3.2 update.
On an "epic" 5 hour trip from Hampshire (UK) to Yorkshire on Friday evening, cutting across country from the M40 to J15 of the M1, a got TWO FATAL ERRORS and an automatic restart. On both oocasions at the same time as a Speed Cam alert. |

I suggest you paste this into an email to Mio. It won't tell them much but at least they can see the problems we are having.
Was there any common element to the crashes, e.g. near any POI's or cameras? Did you have a calculated route going and was it giving any instructions? Was TMC working?

Well mine did it again three times on the trot yesterday. Roughly in the same place & time on as before. I have already established there are no cameras for miles.
I just realised that this crash is taking out Windows CE - Which really should not happen for an application, which is all Mio-Map is after all.
I am also needing to do a hard reset to get the display back on a regular basis when the unit is in standby and ought to respond to the power button top right.. _________________ Mio C710 on MioMap 3.3 |

Been running the 3.2 for a little more than a week, but without seing any crashes. The unit has often been on for a long time with and without driving around with it.
Could it be linked to something like the map? I have only been using the Swedish map.
The zombie problem (black screen) is however well known to me and very annoying. Occured with 3.0 as well as 3.2 so whatever it is is either unrelated to the Miomap version or has not been fixed.
I do not like to have to drive around with a bent paperclip as my primary tool to get the Mio started. Does not really impress on my passengers.
Any solution to this would be greatly appreciated. |

The black screens I am getting do not respond to the paper clip, it needs the power slider on the bottom flipped back and forth. _________________ Mio C710 on MioMap 3.3 |

You are absolutely right, I am just using the paperclip for the slider as well |

First crash today after installing 3.2 last week. It was when a speed camera alert was sounding, but I've passed that camera most every day without problems. |

I had my first crash today as well. I wasn't driving - just checking out a route and as I zoomed out to see more it black screened on me.
