I recently updated the software of my Go 500 to the most recent version.
Seems that the old speed camera voices data.chk file disappeared during the upgrade.
So I instllled the latest camera database and tried to download the voices file.
The .sit file downloads but is only recognised by OSX 10.3.9 as a text file and not a unix executable file.
The Go would not recognise the data.chk file and refused to boot up.
I don't know how to get round this but found an alternative set of files at www.tomtomsatnav.info which did download the data.chk file and correctly recognised it as a unix file.
Tomtom have made a reasonable effort to support Apple Mac users and it would be nice if the speed camera database and voices files available from PGPSW were similarly well supported.

TomTom510.
I had the voices working then upgraded to the new software. Surprise surprise all the original beeps etc reappeared. When I went to delete the original and put the others back on I find that now no space left on card.
In the voices folder is now a "data05.chk" file and in the root of it is a file labelled "original data.chk" which at a bit over 2meg I assume has the modified voices on.
Do we think it safe to delete this original one to make space, or even move and rename? Or would it be best to buy a bigger card?

Thanks.

MMMMmmmmm..... Is it moi? (French for "me" not short for "melons of interest")

The new data.chk file for 6.51 is giving me BIG problems...
my GO510 locks up during the power-up phase when I get to entering my password (/pin number) - yes I'm a sad git - I've got my name, telephone number and a 4 digit "pin" set. Even a hard reset doesn't cure it. But..... If I revert to the 'official' data.chk, no problem - boots/starts correctly.

Try tapping the signal strength bars on main display page.

Not the most obvious thing to try I'll admit!

Hi Guys,

Have also got tom tom 6 working on my PDA
Has any body got the POI alerts working yet ? Question

App version 6.000 (7370)

Many thanks in advance

Probie Wink

I downloaded v. 6.000 build 7370 for TT6 and copied it to the TomTom folder on my card after renaming the original data.chk.
I renamed the new file data.chk and tried to alter the voices by going back to 'Warn when near POI' deleting the old sound and entering the new one.
Nothing!
A bell is still a bell and a cow is still a cow.
Wassup?

The File you need to change is the data.chk in My Device/Progam Files/Navigator.
