Lately we have seen a paradigm shift in Bluetooth GPS receivers. First of all the change to SiRF III chipsets means that a GPS position is no longer something you get if you are lucky, or positioning the receiver with completely unobstructed sky view.

The other shift we have seen is in the target audience. GPS receivers are no longer just for nerds who value function higher than form.

BuyGPSNow managed to send us a review unit, but just barely. At the time of the review they were sold out of the receivers, and waiting for the next batch to arrive (it did, they have stock again). Let's see if the hype is justified.

Hi all,

I am thinking of replacing my ageing Globalsat 307 Compact Flash Gps with this item, the cheapest price I have seen is £66.83 including express delivery from USA

http://www.ps-gps.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=20

I reckon its a good price, but would prefer to get it from here in the UK.

If you have seen it cheaper please let me / others know by way of posting here?

Thanks in advance

I've just bought one from

http://www.nav4all.com/site2/www.nav4all.com/enguk/shop.php

I've been told it takes 7 days to arrive in the UK by another person who bought one. It's a fair bit cheaper than anywhere else i've found so i'm prepared to wait. Good luck Smile

Good review. I've got a GPSlim 236 at the moment, so I probably won't be upgrading, however I'm planning on making a MicroSD GPS logger that plugs into the Mini B connector, or might be squeezable inside the unit. PM me if you'd be interested in such a device. It will also have a USB connector, so you can download the tracklogs onto your pc.

This is the 236, not the 240. We are not endorsing the nav4all site, ymmv.

Hi guys!

I don't know anything about Pocket GMS devices, but I read a couple of reviews and this was the device I liked the most so far.

What can you tell me about Holux? Do they make good devices? Is this the way to go or there are better around here?

And most of all, do you recommend buying this particular one?

Thanks!

P.S. I posted this question by mistake in the GR-271 thread. So if anyone has noticed this, please excuse me. I want the GR-240.

Would I recommend to buy one? You bet! Ask your wife...

Yeah, I did buy one and it's really amazing - works flawlessly, it's super small and connects to my XDA Neo + TomTom 6 instantly.

Highly recommend it!
