I have loaded TomTom on my Dell Axim with a Holux 270 and it worked fine.
But I have had to do a hard reset because of other problems on the Axim.
I have reloaded TomTom but now I get the message:
"Unable to launch the GPS control panel"
I've tried reloading TomTom lots of time and still get the same message
I can access the Holux cF card using the Holux utility
Can anyone please help? |

You have to reinstall three things separately - assuming that you put your maps on a memory card so they're still there.
You need to install the Navigator program (which appears as TomTom Navigator in Add/Remove Programs in ActiveSync), a set of voice files (which appear as something like TomTom Navigator English Voice in Add/Remove Programs in ActiveSync) and the TomTom GPS program (which appears as either TomTom GPS or TomTom ~ GPS in Add/Remove Programs in ActiveSync depending on the version).
I suspect you've failed to reinstall the GPS program.

psionman - contact Holux on the phone and they will take you step by step through a reinstallation from the supplied SD card. They had me up and running again in 5 minutes after a hard reset

psionman, DavidW is correct. What you have done is to re-install but only TomTom Navigator (not the GPS program) and possibly voice files. When you start to install there are 3 options on the menu, you have to install each one to make sure it will work. You can call Holux, but they'll just give you the same information and following the above will save the price of a phone call. The reason for the GPS Control Panel error is that TomTom Navigator is trying to launch the GPS Control Panel applet and failing because it's not installed. |

Hi Guys
Thanks for the help. I did sort it eventually and in the process added a bit more to my PPC knowledge which might help others. I was loading TomTom to an SD card and the load process left the .cab file for GPS unrun (?). I mean the .cab file was still there. All I had to do was delete it and rerun the TT2 load program and it detected the .cab file.
I try to learn something new every day, and this stuff makes that really easy! |
