Had my hp ipaq repaired recently, new usb connector and software update, also reloaded ROM IC, when it came back I found that the tomtom icon had gone from the screen, so I have no way of accessing the sat nav, checked the storage card and it's all still on there, how do I get the icon back.

Welcome to the forum, re-install the application (TomTom), you can download the latest version from www.tomtom.com simply dock the PDA via Active Sync and run the installer from the PC this will sort out your problem - Mike |

Thanx for the link, followed the prompts, started downloading, saved the file navupd521, then opened it up to run set-up and no set-up started, would this be because there is no tom tom already installed, might this have been removed whilst under repair.

Make sure the PDA is docked with the PC and run the application on the PC, this will install the application, you do not need to have an earlier version installed in order for this to work. Mike |

Mike,
Have managed to install, but the pda is asking for an activation code, I bought this unit second hand and the disc that came with it is not the original, so no code on the box, I have a device code, can I get it from here somehow.

Hi steve2002,
Unfortunately you really do need a product code, which together with a device code will give you an activation code when you visit www.ttcode.com.
Have a look at the following TomTom support answer:
My activation code no longer works on my repaired device.
It’s best if you go back to the seller and ask for the product code.

I have e-mailed him.
So what you are saying is that without this code I cannot use this device, and basically means I have to buy another software package.

Yes, you need the product code.
Was it a purchase via eBay?
Did you make a backup of your PDA before you sent it off for repair?

Yes originally it was on e-bay, but i bought it off of e-bay after contacting the seller.
No I didn't back up the info from the PDA, I know, you don't have to tell me.
But if you have a genuine software package and a legitimate reason for wanting the original product code then why is this not possible, i know they want to protect people against rogue sellers but there must be a secure way of obtaining this code.

Hi steve2002,

If you contact TomTom and are able to convince them that you have the original CDs, a receipt, and anything else that proves you bought the product then they should help you.

Unfortunately, if the CD is not the original then it looks very likely that the eBay seller sold you a PDA with pirated software.
Your best hope is that the eBay seller will provide you with the original CDs and a valid product code.
Once you have a product code make a note of it, set up a profile on the TomTom website and keep a record of it in your online TomTom profile.

So if I can't get hold of the product code, then I need some more software, seeing as I already have the bluetooth unit what is the cheapest way of doing this, and from where.
I have looked on the good old e-bay and there seems to be some very cheap stuff on there, too cheap, and some of it says you don't need a code. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

Then you have been conned by an eBay seller who has bumped up the price of a second-hand PDA with a pirated version of a SatNav application.

Have a look at the advertisers on this website.

If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. All legitimate versions of TomTom for the PDA will need a production code and therefore an activation code.
Did the eBay seller claim that the software was all legitimate and the it came with CDs and product codes?
