and select Language Selection screen. Do a soft reset and you will be able to select the UK English from there. |
That should do it. _________________ Navman ICN 520

OK, found that option but how do you do a 'soft reset'? |

Using the stylus, poke it in the hole at the top of the unit. |

Found that, and it goes through all of the reset procedure (shows that it's re-loading all the maps etc) but then just gives me the acceptance screen and goes to the menu... No option to select country
Any other ideas or is it going to have to go to their (un)helpdesk? |

I'm pretty new to this, but feel free to shoot me down if I'm way off mark.
I think I've found out how and why the voice change appears to happen when you install the latest SmartST2005 patch.
I also think my findings answer the question your asking? (with the one internal language, and no additional languages on the SD Card, you cant trigger the Langauge Selection Screen at Start Up)
Take a look at the thread below, Titled, Voice Sound File Locations in an ICN510 SmartST2005.
I hope you find it useful.
Kind Regards,
Andy. _________________ A Happy user of...

Before you do a reset, go to Preferences / More Preferences / Startup / then tick Language selection screen and it should appear after a reset. |

Hi Simon,
Yeah, I definitely did select the language option like you said, but it still doesn't show the language selection when I switch it on. |

I remember having trouble getting that screen up after updating the software too. It may be worth doing a hard reset by switching the battery switch at the back off and on before turning the unit back on. |

Anyone got any other ideas? Navman haven't been able to suggest anything other than you guys have, and this lisping-American lady with her love of 'traffic circles' is driving me insane! |

I remember that when I went thru the whole process, I had to check and re-install the update a few times as it didn't seem to 'take'. I also remember having to try a few times to get the language screen up. I'd suggest (and you're gonna hate this) that you reinstall the update again and see what happens. Hopefully someone has a better idea!
Before that tho, go to Preferences - Language and see what choices you have. English may be there. |

Another recent post stated that the update would be avalible early December. Probably because Navman have recently laid off alot of staff. |
