OK time for me to hang my head in shame. I've been the proud owner of a Icn520 for quite some time now. Now someone's probably been here before but i need a good answer, A friend of mine just bought a 510 for such an incredible price from Asda. His only complaint was that there are certain area's of Hertfordshire that are ''missing'' from the mapping (V3) Ok you know what i'm gonna say next ? yup ! I tried to install my V3.5 Software and maps on it and all but bricked it. The only way I can get it to run is it to restore from his backup and leave power switched on. If it is switched off it has to be restored again because it reverts to my V3.5 software, and he just wants it put put back to normal. I've tried all I can think of i've even installed smartST on to another PC and tried a ''fresh'' install of smartST V3 onto it but it just won't let me install it. (says it isnt licensed to the product) I'm sure one of you guys can help me out of this situation. |

Hi
Apart from being illegal in the first instance, there is hope at the end of the tunnel for your friend.
Look at your 520 manual page 69 follow the instructions, how to uninstall your iCN using the 510 not the 520.
If you have a card reader format the SD card YOU CANNOT RUN V3 & V3.5 ON THE SAME UNIT AT THE SAME TIME.
Read my other posts on this forum to find out how to put rights to the SD card.
A lesson well learned I hope.
This will solve your problem.
Regards

Thanks DRP, and sorry to open a new topic on what would appear to be an old subject. Have checked your previous postings and found a lot of useful info. Have passed this stuff on and he will attack his 510 at some point over the weekend and let me know what happens. Once again many thanks. |
