I bought a copy of the 6 Region 2003 Memory Map Software 2 years ago and paid £140. A couple of weeks later I notice on the MM website that the 2004 version has been released and I think, great, should be able to get a free or cheap upgrade - wrong, the upgrade costs £70. As the only major benefit I could see was the addition of the 3D functionality I decided not to upgrade but still had that ripped off feeling as buying the original software a couple of weeks later would have meant that I would have paid £140 for the 2004 version.
I have found the mapping software reliable and easy to use and had been transferring waypoint and route data successfully back and forward between my etrex and MM. I decided to upgrade my etrex from the base model to a Vista C (which is fab) but was infuriated to find out that I cannot transfer data to the new etrex from MM and there is apparently no patch or upgrade available for the 2003 version to sort this incompatibility - I can however pay for the upgrade - not likely. I feel thoroughly unsupported by MM and can only conclude they are happy to take your money but get involved in any aftercare.
This is a bit of a rant but as I work for a company where customer service is paramount I do see the benefits of looking after customers and cannot understand why MM are disinterested. Needless to day I have junked the MM Software and am considering what to buy in it’s place to sync with my Vista. |

You should be aware that when you upgrade a major version, it is not just the software that is upgraded but the all the maps as well. OS Maps 2003 will only work with MM OSv3 and OS Maps 2004 will only work with MM OSv4. This is a licencing requirement from OS.
So £70 for a new set of maps is not that bad and consider that Memory Map will have to pay OS for the new maps you get. |

You're complaining! I bought my MM OS 2004 1:50k GB on 13th September. Just over 2 weeks later and it's already out of date. Aaaaaaaaaaaagh!!! |

Can anyone confirm....
I have an original (Unused) Version on Memory-map 3.1.1.
I'm trying to load this onto my new PC (WinXP Home), but it keeps Hanging up after I try to open the application.....
Is 3.1.1 compatible with WinXp Home???? |

I think you'll find that MM v3 will only work with ActiveSync 3.7.0 and earlier. What you describe is the precise condition you see when you have a later version installed. |

I dont know.....my PDA wont work with anything below AS 4.something.
I'll try to put an older copy of activesync on a laptop, and use the laptop when I want to try and use MemoryMap.
I'm assuming, once I get MM running, I can load up ALL the maps onto the hard drive, then transfere them onto a CF or SD card, to use them in the PDA?? |
