Having tried several times to download the Speed Cam Database without success I tried using a different browser I.Explorer, and no problem.
It appears that I cannot download the current database using Mozilla Firefox. All previous versions downloaded O.K. |

Hi,
I'm getting a similar message.
Trying to download the TomTom files and getting""Internet explorer could not open the file/file could not be found"" on all three types of UK package.
Can someone help me out?
Cheers

Hi Rob,
Tried both of the posts above mate and still no luck.
I can get to the download database screen and then select the one i want no problem.
The save dialog box then appears then once i press save or open i get an error message.
The message reads as such ""Internet Explorer cannot download downloadcameras.php?idPackage=2 from www.pocketgpsworld.com
Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet file. The requested site is either not available or cannot be found.
Please try later"""
I have a screendump of this also if you want just let me know and i'll fire it across to you.
I am running zonealarm and i have tried both with this up and down and still no joy.
I'm running IE6 fully updated with all service packs also.
Any ideas??

Funny that for some people Firefox should need to pretend to be IE to work with the download. I'm still using grotty old Netscape 7.2 and that works fine. |

There's nothing grotty about Netscape 7.2, it does what it supposed to do, and in my opinion, does it well. I prefer it to N8. _________________ Richard

Bank sites also have a similar problem. They are only compatible with certain browsers mostly I.E & Netscape.
Maybe the Database download site at present is not currently compatible with Firefox but until it is the work round seems to get round my problem.
At the moment I would not blame either. |

It seems that FireFox is OK for the majority of users. Indeed Darren -for those that don't know, a PocketGPSWorld.com team member - uses FireFox all the time with no problems. Have you seen the following thread?

Not wanting to point fingers at any company. The Internet has always been a problem with browser incompatabilities. There is a standard for implementing browser functionality, but each company interprets the standard differently. Then on top of that they add their own extensions and then we all wonder why something works with one browser and not another.
This is further compounded by pop-up blockers, advert blockers, anti-spyware software, anti-spam software, and firewalls. The potential combinations are limitless, as are the opportunities for failure.
We are currently working on these issues and hope to either resolve them or find workarounds as soon as possible. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Strange as it may seem all the previous downloads of the Database I could only perform with Firefox not I.E. so it's most likely some of my settings |
