Hi Guys,
Can anyone recommed a good Bluetooth GPS to go with the 3970 using TT5? I have a jacket for it, but would like to try the BT option.
If you can make a good recommendation it would be greatly appreciated.

I've used the TT BT Mk2, the Navman 4100 and the Garmin GPS10. They all work with my 3970 and my 5555 but for use with TTN5 then the TomTom unit is best., IMO. _________________ Tim |

I have the 3970 with TT5 and use the Slim Bluetooth GPS made by Fortuna. This is a SiRF Star 111 chipset. It will pick up 8 to 10 sats very very quickly and is small enough to place right at bottom of windscreen. bluetak holds it in place. It will also work inside car say alongside gear lever. One big advantage is that the rechargeable battery is replaceable. they even give you a screwdriver in the pack. Its main advantage however is the re-aquisition time after going under an underpass. You can measure the time in milli seconds.
Preplanning journeys at home is easy as it will pick up satellites inside the house
I cannot recommend this unit enough. Buy one you will not be disappointed

The unit on ebay is a CLIP ON bt gps from Fortuna. I have one of these as well as the one my previous message refered to ie the SLIM. The CLIP ON is also an excellent unit but I found the SLIM had a quicker satellite pick up time. The CLIP ON also has a dual sensitivity setting. One for car navigation with clear open sky conditions and the other a slower response but more sensitive ideal for walking cycling. The SLIM version seems to work better in an area where the gps signal may be shaded ie near and under trees in town when driving betwen large buildings etc. probably due to the SiRF Star 111 chipset as against the CLIP ON SiRF Star 11e/LP. Both units are good but I prefer the SLIM.
I have no experience of others.
Both units cost around the £100 mark.
Try the link to the gps specialists on this page opposite.
www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk at Stokesley North Yorks have given excellent service when I have used themin the past.
Any more help. Just get back
regards
